Provincial but sadly not Canadian. Still legal in most states. Signing books (not mine!) Compulsive liar.

Also good: they/them (royal), dude/dude (abiding), they/them (multitudinous).

It is #Caturday, and the Office Manager would like to provide proof of life.

Not the best pose for that, but the effort is appreciated!

They sold the stream
that quenched the corn

you were born

You see the lights

the grass is green,
and fountains flow.

And know beyond
these #arid lands
that power drinks

Time is up. I gave Speaker Mike Johnson two days to swear in Adelita Grijalva. Arizona's 7th congressional district 813,000 Arizonans are now being taxed without representation. I have lawyers downstairs right now drafting litigation.

I'd sworn to run
where most
feared tread
among ghosts

in caverns dread
or in the skies
to fight dire
demons with eyes

reeking fire
and ichor
till my skin
wore their color

and my kin
bade me begone.

for @slate.com I wrote about Joe Arpaio's view on the SCOTUS shadow docket decision in Noem v. Vasquez Perdomo, the case in which Kavanaugh said it was okay to racially profile people.

I wake to the
sound of crunching.

Panic, as I
orient--safe in my bed,
the noise merely the
cat consuming a #beetle.

Or something I'd rather not see.

Sudden silence, then the
sure and sudden dread
that mischief is afoot.

Silent paws dent the sheet
as terror approaches
to share her kill.

Secure within
four walls
by the warmth
of a hearth,
I dream of
grey skies
roofing
strange cities
bustling with
strangers
voices unfolding
a map, a language
where #deluxe
means more
than a
special sauce.

The tooth of the morning's chill
doesn't quite bite, printing the
skin with goosebumps and little more.

But like the kitten whose chirp conceals
the cry of an infant, there is an #undertone
of ice, twinkling lights, and shiny bells.

Leave the lights in the shed.
Fill the candy bowl.

In 4 attempts, guess when this happened: The Messina earthquake in Italy, followed by a tsunami - the worst natural disaster in Europe that century.(+ 3 more hints)

I see them stare,
They don't dare
whisper, not while
I'm there.

The patches?
The walk?
The way I
talk?

Nah, I just learned
the cash they earn
is the people
they've burned.

Like the #piranha
my rep
goes wherever
I step

Ain't here to fight.
Stay and you might

Pausing a moment,
between the deluge outside
and the torrent of
bad news

a metronome
of water slicking
drip drip

Given time, my
coat will dry.
It persists,
and so must I.

are destroyed by sunlight
surely as false things

Is it then any wonder that

Joy, laughter, #verve
the company of kind folk
the things that fill our souls
and fortify us against despair?
