Some states will fight hard against releasing innocent people from prison bc they argue wrongful convictions are a myth. We need to be advocates for the wrongfully convicted bc letting an innocent person pay while guilty ppl walk free is unconscionable.
Just heard that after 27 years on Louisiana’s death row, Chris “Jimmie” Duncan is finally getting out. Not exactly sure when, but I’m told he’ll be home for Thanksgiving.

This is wonderful news.

Here’s my 2009 piece on the forensic fraud that got him convicted:
Forensics Fraud?
Experts say this video shows a doctor manufacturing evidence. So why is a man still on death row?

Big Oil is using native advertising to "disguise their ads in news outlets" and promote "controversial technologies like carbon capture as climate solutions, portray fossil fuel companies as climate-friendly, or misrepresent their role in the energy transition" finds author @commscholar.bsky.social.
These ads are poisoning trust in media
‘Native advertising' allows fossil fuel companies to disguise their ads in news outlets. A new book argues the practice undermines journalistic credibility.

I joined with 95 other social scientists to document the costs of this act for the United States.

Smoke and mirrors is the GOP’s fave game. RFK, Jr. is dangerously ignorant, please listen to your medical doctors for medical info instead of a retired environmental lawyer with no medical background.
While you were distracted by the Epstein files, RFK jr just updated the CDC website with his anti-vax talking points.

This is dangerous and irresponsible.

Accurate. Verdad. Which is especially egregious in the context of minors and people with intellectual disabilities or impairments. Jessie Misskelley is a sad example of the damage lying LEOs can do to the young and impaired.
In the US, law enforcement isn't just legally allowed to lie to you, they're ENCOURAGED to. OTOH, your lawyer is legally prohibited from lying to you and can lose her license for it.

Which of those professions, though, do you reflexively associate more with lying?

You're not immune to copaganda.

You know what’s not shutdown rn? Federal student loan collections. People aren’t getting paid or their food benefits, grocery stores are losing tons of $ leading to more layoffs and food chain disruptions, yet the govt is still trying to collect student loan debt. #greed #shutdown #snap

W/ all the political BS, the media isn’t reporting on other things that matter, like the 1st SCOTUS case involving a Rastafarian & religious freedom of institutionalized persons (RLUIPA): www.oyez.org/cases/2025/2...

Yet another example of why our entire justice system needs reform.

Fellow lawyers: get it together! We double check our paralegals’ work, but not AI work?! Seriously?! Stop being lazy and just do the damn work. Submitting false or misleading info in a court filing is at best malpractice and at worst an ethical breach of professional conduct. Do better.
“A French data scientist and lawyer, Damien Charlotin, has catalogued at least 490 court filings in the past six months that contained “hallucinations,” which are AI responses that contain false or misleading information.”

Everyone should pay careful attention to the Maine voter ID ballot measure (Prop 1). It is on track to lose -- thereby proving that the GOP claims that voter ID laws are overwhelmingly popular is a lie. Perhaps now the legacy media will stop repeating that nonsense.

Americans have been dragged, tackled, beaten, tased and shot by immigration agents.

They’ve had their necks kneeled on.

They’ve been held outside in the rain while in their underwear.

At least three citizens were pregnant when agents detained them.
More Than 170 U.S. Citizens Have Been Held by Immigration Agents. They’ve Been Kicked, Dragged and Detained for Days.
The government does not track how often immigration agents grab citizens. So ProPublica did. Our tally — almost certainly incomplete — includes people who were held for days without a lawyer. And near...

Sending Texas National Guard out of state while Texas is preparing for a state of emergency…I wish I could say I’m surprised.
Texas is preparing emergency resources for wildfires and floods. The Texas National Guard should be THERE — not in Illinois.

We stand ready to support their return home so they are best positioned for helping Texans respond to any natural disasters.
Abbott activates emergency resources ahead of growing wildfire threat, flood risk in Texas
