PayPal is updating their ToS to let themselves give your data to merchants starting in November and they're certainly banking on people not knowing to opt out, SO to opt out before they start:

go to Settings > Data & Privacy > Manage shared info > Personalized shopping, and toggle that shit off

Would someone in tech please talk to libraries about how decades of making their labor invisible has worked for us? Spoiler: Too well, lots of budget cuts and devaluing of the labor no one can see. People think that the materials are made available by magical elves.

one of the biggest problems with "we must partner with a Reasonable Republican" messaging - even if your goal is to pick off R-leaning indies - is that it completely contradicts the (correct) messaging that the Republican party is now a fascist cult that wants to destroy the country

the thing is, the idea always stunk, never worked and the GOP has only grown more insane and extremist over the years

something like "we're the sane ones, join the party" instead of this Pelosi brand "we need a partnership w a strong, manly Republican party!"

To be clear, if Trump wins there will be political violence.
If Trump loses, there will be political violence.
So far TPM is the only place I've seen clear-eyed analysis of the Arlington cemetery incident. Read the whole thing. It's spot-on.

Republican federal judges have struck down six major Biden initiatives in two months. GOP politicians don't have to advance the party's very unpopular views. Instead, they can rely on the party's super-partisan judges who never have to stand before voters. www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/202...

Nate doesn’t think AT ALL about systemic risk. It doesn’t even occur to him.

The downstream consequences of pumping up a trillion-dollar gambling industry are someone-else’s-problem. Nate doesn’t think about them. He just wants to revel in how COOL and CLEVER the winners are.

Yet another article laundering far-right into "economic anxiety." The author never considers whether men support Trump because they like his policies on immigration or queer people. She just lets them cast their preferences in the most sympathetic light possible.

Many Gen Z Men Feel Left Behind. Some See Trump as an Answer.
Men under 30 are much more likely to support Donald Trump than women their age. It’s a far bigger gender gap than in older generations.

Subway is owned by a private equity firm that raised the prices on their $5 footlongs up to $14.

Now the price back down to $6.99.

It was never about “inflation.”
It was a private equity firm using inflation as an excuse to price gouge customers.

Always expose corporate greed.
