Welp, that sinus pain at the front of my face indicates that the pressure is definitely changing. :sigh: At least it's because it's getting warmer here for the next few days.

"This delightful book considers how science fiction stories portray archives and archivists, analyzes the ways in which these portrayals affect readers’ views, and shows how archivists can leverage these insights to improve the public’s understanding of the discipline."

Had the pleasure of making it through ep 6 of Bookish this weekend, and I have to say not only are the mysteries fun, the handling of queerness in a period piece is just :chefs kiss:. I keep crying at the understated tenderness of it.

Update: It’s not as pretty as the picture, I went a bit wild with the vegetables, had to sub a single lemon when I didn’t buy enough limes, and my noodles pkg was 2 oz too small, but this is *hella* tasty and I’m not mad about having 2 days worth of leftovers from it.

I don't know what to tell you. You can't sit at a piano for the first time ever and play a sonata. You can't pick up a tennis racket for the first time and serve a 110MPH Ace.

You have to fuck up.

You have to be able to handle failing.

You have to love it enough to not get it right and keep on.

I'm going to say this again in case you haven't heard this one: I was a talented writer and it did *nothing whatsoever* because I hadn't put in the work, and I put in the work for ten years (subtracting the bit where I had to quit for my mental health) to write Witchmark

talent alone could *never*

all talent really is? It's one thing that you have a knack for right away. That's all it is. it is a single pea buried in the mattresses of practice. You don't even have to have that one thing.

Harping on talent is how they keep you from trusting you can do it. it's a grift.

I would like to get to a point where I occasionally reach Friday evening and I feel energetic enough to do something other than just collapse on the couch in pajamas with a frozen pizza for dinner.

This week was not that week. I'm kinda wiped.

one of the greatest human triumphs of my lifetime is the relentless, unceasing, heroic effort by DECADES' worth of doctors and scientists to find a cure for a disease much of the world didn't take seriously for years because it predominantly affected a community they thought kinda deserved it
