Errol Louis: Alright. Governor Cuomo, what's your position on Spider-Man?

Cuomo: I think he's a menace.

USAID.gov is down. Why is this concerning? Trump has no legal authority to eliminate a congressionally funded independent agency. The work of USAID is vital, and if this can happen to them, it can happen to any of us.

We desperately need an ideological and political tactics insurgency within the Democratic Party. Because despite massive losses the party has made clear it has no interest in changing or adapting.

It is truly wild that it is estimated that more than 20 million people died of Covid and the prevailing vibe is that the world overreacted. That is an astonishing toll! More people died of Covid in the US than in the Civil War. www.pbs.org/newshour/hea...

Tomorrow is Epiphany. Whether you celebrate or not, there’s still time to make either a galette des rois or a gâteau des rois - kings cakes. Find recipes for both (with 3 different galette fillings to choose from) on my Substack. (Earlier posts)

Was not particularly interested in seeing Wicked, and then my wife gave it a Media Studies framing and said it’s actually about how a gullible and ill-informed public is easy to manipulate with misinformation and I was all in, great movie, 10/10 so far.

Mike Johnson claimed yesterday that he was reading a prayer written by Thomas Jefferson.

Except it wasn't.

Historians who are familiar with it say it’s not accurate to attribute it to Jefferson or to suggest he recited it daily.

Apple TV+ is free this weekend. My utterly biased suggestion: Little America. Every ep is a short film based on true stories of immigrants to America. Some are funny, some are moving, some are thrilling. We wanted to make a show about immigrants that was, before all else, entertaining.
