They are demonstrating, in theatrical, garish form, what they want for all American women: for them to squeeze themselves into an extremely narrow gender box, so as not to frighten or confuse any of the Tough Guys.
They've changed their faces to please the patriarchy. It's not about what types of women those patriarchal men personally prefer; it's about showing those men that they are willing to submit. And it's a specific kind of look. It shows their willingness to be controlled.

There’s some comfort in knowing Miller and Vance got it so wrong and that their degenerate ideas about the world are being rejected by normal people who care about their communities.
Yes. My theory of the moment is Miller/Vance thought their view that immigrants threaten social solidarity would be widely shared. But ICE raids are driving native-born Americans to show solidarity with immigrants quite courageously. Now Miller is trying to disrupt that alliance with state violence.
Insightful point here: Even if you take Trump seriously - he does not like the optics - they rested on an assumption that communities would welcome ICE as heroes, rather than showing the type of solidarity that Trump inherently cannot understand.

My Republican colleagues must take notice:

The U.S. cannot base foreign policy on whether or not a president gets a prize.

This is pathetic.

It is petty and dangerous narcissism — behavior we might expect from a spoiled child, not the leader of a democratic nation.

At a deep theoretical level, Stephen Miller and JD Vance think their view that immigrants threaten social solidarity is widely shared. But what's now happening is MAGA is driving native-born Americans to show solidarity with immigrants. Now Miller is trying to break that up w/coercion and violence.
Terror is essential to Miller's project. It's designed to dissuade us from showing solidarity with the immigrants getting removed. Stand in the way of ethnic cleansing and you risk violence yourself.
