Turns out the bit of rectum they removed had acute inflammation and was essentially diseased. Much longer it may have caused more issues.
It 100% validates my decision to ask for this operation before a professional would have suggested it to be.

- Dealing with some health issues surrounding my nerves and subsequently my heart
