HOUSING WINS: We won appeals in two important housing cases at the DC Court of Appeals.

We successfully defended rent refunds for 2,500 tenants at Marbury Plaza in Ward 8.

And we upheld an order requiring developers to fix faulty construction that left a Ward 4 condo building swaying in the wind.

FOR ANYONE WHO WANTS to oppose the Trump administration...there is a strategy worth pursuing, one familiar to underdogs the world over: Push the aggressor beyond their limits.

ICYMI: The Senate today voted 52-48 to overturn the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau's rule limiting overdraft fees to $5. Score one for those plucky big banks and predatory fees!

All Democrats and Josh Hawley voted no.

Unidentified men grabbing someone off the street and putting her in a car because she wrote an op-Ed. This as flatly authoritarian as anything we’ve seen in this country in a very long time.
Video of the international student at Tufts being arrested by "federal authorities" in Massachusetts has been released and it's terrifying.

They're not even uniformed officers. Just secret police thugs in hoodies and masks.

Rollover and play dead wins. I'm honestly really sorry everyone. This is a bad, depressing outcome. We tried our best, and we didn't succeed. We're circling up with Indivisible group leaders over the next day to plan for what accountability will look like. Stay tuned.
The final tally to advance the CR is 62-38.

The Democrats who voted for cloture, giving Donald Trump everything he wants:

Cortez Masto (NV)
Durbin (IL)
Fetterman (PA)
Gillibrand (NY)
Hassan (NH)
Peters (MI)
Schatz (HI)
Schumer (NY)

There's a bizarre "I want you to feel my pain" element to the federal layoffs. Struggling rural towns who once relied on industry jobs are cheering on the doge cuts. Ironically these folks will also suffer the most as federal dollars are frozen. www.usatoday.com/story/money/...
NEW: The biggest DOGE-related layoffs are in and around Washington, D.C.

In the week ending Feb. 22, unemployment claims in D.C. rose 25% from the week prior and were four times as high as one year earlier — and that’s only the beginning.

Senator John Fetterman claims voting NO to the GOP's budget is voting for "chaos." Have you been conscious the past 6 weeks? We are already in chaos. @fetterman.senate.gov
New, from me: Trump and Musk are engaged in a broad-based downsizing of government, using that downsizing to selectively target their enemies, while expanding their political power by trading exceptions to the downsizing.

It's a new spoils systems. 🧵
