“When a government grants itself license to override physician judgment and patient consent, who - at any stage of life — will be next?”

The AMA raising very serious concerns about the UCP’s invocation of the notwithstanding clause.

Yesterday I was the Legislative Assembly of Alberta.
I did so as *me*. Nails on, wearing a skirt… I couldn't let myself daydream about when I was in the Legislature. It wasn't on the record, but it seems fitting that it is Transgender Visibility Week.
I had not been in the building since 2019.

“Tuesday’s election night was a resounding repudiation of those who insist that Democrats must cut their trans constituents loose in order to win elections.”
For @msnbc.com I wrote about how Tuesday's election gives Democrats the blueprint for overcoming Republican anti-trans attacks and how thus should settle all the talk about throwing trans people under the bus.

Opinion | Democrats’ election wins showed they don't need to hide their support for trans rights
Republicans repeated Trump's anti-trans strategy from 2024 and lost big. This should be instructive for Democrats.

Did you know #YEG once had a proposal for a monorail?
I didn't.
Anyway. "A rapid transit system costing 'in the same order as replacement of [ETS] buses'" seems wild

Well, I wrote about time allocation, the NDPs use, and the UCPs bill 2.

Voting for it weighed heavily on me, especially the first time it was introduced in 2015.

I cannot wrap my head around a justification for using it before legislation is even introduced.

A Reflection on Time Allocation
Yesterday was a dark day for Albertan democracy. I am far from the only one sitting with the weight of what just happened.

Sorry, the UCP is tabling time allocation *before Bill 2 is even on the floor*?!

I cannot imagine having such little faith in my legislation that time allocation is being used immediately.

Hello, while I've posted here a couple times as myself, I haven't done a proper introduction.

My name is Vivienne Horne. I am a former legislator and a grad student. I am trans.

A (re)introduction
I served as a legislator; I was always an “ally”. It is time to embrace that I am transgender and bisexual.
