Here's a thread of some of the gofundme campaigns set up for some of the folks who were hurt or killed yesterday at the Lapulapu festival. Please consider supporting these folks and share these links around your networks!

All eyes on Gaza. The ceasefire agreement doesn’t begin for 72 hours and Israel is on a killing spree.

This country is a hellscape: Imprisoned teenage boys & young men 18 to 24 are being used to battle the wildfires. 95% are Black, Latino, or Filipino; earn between $2.20 & $4 per hour, plus an additional $1 an hour when they’re actively fighting fires

Regarding the last repost: A fund has been set up to support the brave incarcerated firefighters, they are doing things like buying safety equipment (boots, etc) for the firefighters.

Write “firefighter fund” in the payment section.

Asking Palestinians to condemn Hamas ‘is more than just a trap … It sidelines the material reality of ongoing Palestinian genocide with the recitation of vapid phrases that can neither bring Israelis back to life nor reverse the more than 30,000 tonnes of bombs Israel has already dropped.’
Why must Palestinians condemn themselves for daring to fight back?
Don’t ask Palestinians to condemn Hamas - they are already condemned to live in hell on Earth

I think that the real success story here is Japan.

Japan has one of the strongest economic recoveries, but over 5-fold fewer deaths per capita from COVID-19 than the US.

The US chose to sacrifice the vulnerable for the economy.

Japan shows protecting public health can strengthen the economy.

I still remember when they said "Oh but we'll mask when we're in COVID-19 surges".

Real convenient that they also wound down monitoring so people could know when such surges happen.

It's like intentionally getting rid of weather monitoring stations and wondering why tornado sirens don't go off.
It’s real covidy out there right now
I feel bad for the large number of people who are honestly unaware that we are *in* a surge, given that a lot of places have basically given up testing, and only some places make wastewater monitoring data public.

"The World Health Organization pleads for immediate reversal of Gaza evacuation order to protect health and reduce suffering.

A mass evacuation would be disastrous—for patients, health workers and other civilians left behind or caught in the mass movement."

Of course Israel is going to claim their hospital atrocity was the fault Hamas. When the Israeli military deliberately targeted, shot, and killed Shireen Abu Aqleh, the Israeli propaganda machine also at first claimed that Palestinian militants had shot her.

Haymarket is providing three books on/from Palestine for free —>
Yeah, there's apparently a 'folder' of pirated ebooks that's making the rounds. There are publishers who are sharing books for free-- that's different. Haymarket is releasing three books rn, including an anthology of futurist fiction from Gaza: www.haymarketbooks.org/blogs/495-fr...

Not only will the poor guidance from hospitals to ignore COVID testing harm patients, it will harm healthcare workers at a time every hospital is desperately understaffed. Far better to allow HCWs to recover a few more days than lose many more from the profession entirely.

Wow. This email from a UK hospital instructs healthcare workers not to test for COVID because it might keep them out of work for longer. What happened to "do no harm"?

Long COVID is real.

Long COVID is not rare.

Vaccines offer limited protection against long COVID.

Paxlovid reduces your risk of long COVID.

Repeat infections make long COVID more likely.

There is no standard treatment for long COVID.

The best prevention against long COVID is not getting COVID.

Transphobes who get mad about pronouns are weak. I speak Vietnamese. The pronoun I use for myself and the person I’m talking to or about depends on how old I am, how old they are, whether they’re a relative, whether they’re related to my mom or my dad, gender, and more. There are over 20 of them.
