As a former Director of Adelaide Writers' Week I am appalled that the Adelaide Festival Board has rescinded Dr Randa Abdel-Fattah's invitation to the 2026 AWW, explicitly linking its decision to the shattering crimes in Bondi.

A shocking decision that will and should have far-reaching consequences.

This analysis from Nick Feik is profound especially as there is talk of the PM caving to a shameless campaign

Teaching Art this year was a revelation. So much hope ahead in our future with these creative kids. Developing curriculum on the run was challenging but teaching them about Kaylene Whiskey, Molly Hunt, Pop Art, Graffiti public service announcements & Nihonga & Sakura was a fab reset on why I teach.

As a highly taxed teacher, artist & friend of the Arts this is not only a betrayal, it’s a crime against the culture that reflects our national identity. ‘It’s a very good deal for China. I”m sure Australians would love to pay the $3 or $4 gas that the Chinese get.’ Howard’s Liberal party betrayal!
Australia Institute research shows that nurses pay more tax than gas and oil companies.

Meanwhile, multinational gas companies get 56% of our gas for free and then export it overseas.

Time to wake up Australia. Without the US as a credible ally and with China experimenting with their live fire exercises at ‘short notice’ forcing Oz flight path redirections it’s a terrifying reality reveal! We’re not in Kansas now, Toto!

Always Was, Always Will Be, Aboriginal Land.
Peaceful Invasion Day march in Melbourne. Hearing Gary Foley speak was the absolute highlight. A searing history lesson going back as far as 1967. Hearing language and watching ceremony with speeches from Tarneen Onus and Aretha Brown unified us all.

‘On January 26, 1938, as the first rally against Australia Day was held, 25 Indigenous men were told if they did not perform the role of 'retreating Aborigines' in a re-enactment of the First Fleet, their families would starve.’
