This is really *isn't* a good faith argument. The only common thing in these examples is that they are row houses of similar width. However, their length (thus overall size), their spacial priorities (like the bedroom-bathroom ratio) and the overall interior design differ markedly.
This comparison shows the price of putting an internal garage on a rowhouse

Both of these rowhomes are ~16' wide

Left: 2BR+Den/3BA
Right: 4BR/3.5BA

So the cost is losing TWO bedroom.

If you read “The Tenant Trap,” you know the court system favors property rights of landlords over the rights of renters. This story by WBEZ reporters Amy Qin and Esther Yoon-Ji Kang dives into one important aspect of that: the challenge of holding LLC landlords accountable.

For four months, Russell Carter and his son couldn’t safely use the bathroom in their South Side apartment. In early February, the bathroom ceiling and

The @bloomberg.com story I mentioned in conversation with @wesmars.bsky.social:

"The opposition to traffic cameras is real — but it seems to come from politicians more than the general public. Beyond being effective, automatic cameras are remarkably popular."
Automated Traffic Enforcement Is More Popular Than You Think
Cameras that ticket drivers who run red lights and speed are effective and widely popular with city residents. So why are they banned in so many places?

Are you a renter in Chicago? Here's how to use public databases to research building code violation history, property ownership, and the people behind the companies that often own housing.
Know your building. Know your landlord.
“The Tenant Trap,” a yearlong Injustice Watch investigation, found Chicago tenants regularly face eviction and informal displacement at buildings with

Why are we still designing fish bowls & green houses?
I am all for ADA-compliant design & wider platforms, but this glass-on-steroids structure is both expensive to build & to clean/maintain.
Then, there is climate change with higher temperatures & increased frequency/intensity of hailstorm. (SMH)
The State and Lake CTA station is getting a $440 million overhaul with a glass roof and elevators to the Red Line.

We have trees for that. In fact, if tree and building height are similar, trees will also reduce your cooling costs.
On a day like today, I sure wish we had taller buildings around Chicago neighborhoods to cast shadows on the street

Yes, traffic cameras work, but it's a myth that people hate them!

Survey after survey shows that most people support automatic enforcement (and often want more of it).

This is a false controversy, fed by a minority of disgruntled drivers & journalists seeking narratives with conflict.
It’s Easy to Hate Traffic Cameras. But They Do Save Lives.
They raise issues of fairness, and critics claim they’re only about revenue. More speed and red-light cameras, however, would prevent a lot of deaths and injuries.

high rise ≠ density
We can't agree that six stories in an already-dense neighborhood with 24 hour L access next to the lake is reasonable
