This is the biggest attack on free speech since the McCarthy era but it also has significantly less popular consensus behind it than the second Red Scare. It's being done on behalf of a minority faction led by the most unpopular president in modern history. Organizing against this can win.

We’re posting about this now in hopes of drawing public attention to NOAA’s Atlas 15 project which was quietly shut down by the Trump administration before it could be completed. The work was nearly finished and could still be restarted if pressure mounts.

Trump 2017: "It is my pleasure and my honor to announce my nomination of Jerome Powell."

Trump today: "He's a terrible Fed chair. I was surprised he was appointed. I was surprised frankly that Biden put him in and extended him."

Every news story will include both clips, right?

What the actual hell?! A close Trump advisor and MAGA figure just posted, “Alligator lives matter. The good news is alligators are guaranteed 65 million meals if we get started now.” This is disgusting, it’s genocidal language. Dehumanizing, dangerous, and unacceptable. How is this even real life?

11. The bigger question for the House GOP: why the hell do you want this job? Congress is a coequal branch. Your decisions affect every American. If you think that you should only do what Trump wants regardless of the ask and even if your constituents don't like it you aren't a representative.

The big ugly bill is worse for families & worse for our economy.

It’s not just Democrats who know this—Republicans are starting to admit it too.

Turn up the pressure. Tell your senators to say NO to this cruel bill.
Look up your Senators' numbers
Call your senators today and demand that they vote NO on this bill.

I just put up an amendment to the Republicans' Big, Ugly Bill that says something simple:

If people's healthcare costs go up, the billionaire tax cuts vanish.

The Republicans tried to shout me down.

And then they voted it down.

The American people will not forget.

Our system was built on one simple demand: no taxation without representation. One man doesn’t get to decide who gets funding and who doesn’t.

Blue states prop up the system and now they’re done being punished for it. The next question? Whether taxpayers in those states can also push back. We need clarity: can individuals withhold federal tax when the government fails to deliver on its end?

This is amazing, let’s go! Blue states are fighting back against Trump’s threats to withhold funding by introducing bills that give the federal government a taste of its own medicine.

Institutional care isn't optional under Medicaid. Home and community based services care is optional. Cutting Medicaid will lead to more people losing HCBS and be forced into nursing homes, as I wrote for @motherjones.com in January. www.motherjones.com/politics/202...
