We need to develop real boycott discipline.

One thing I’ve been doing lately is boycotting social media, including YouTube, other Google products, and Spotify every Wednesday.

(bc Wednesday is Mercury’s day, god of communication)

How are you strengthening your boycotting discipline?
Sydney Sweeney finally saying “I’m not racist” (*but not “I’m sorry”) after her pockets got hit so bad HAHAHAHAHA you know the execs were yelling at her for her multiple flops, so now she has to lie about not knowing what the ad meant

Keep hitting her in the pocket book, boycott everything she’s in

Shoutout to nonfiction writers that draw you in and make you feel like you’re hanging out with a good friend 💛

In spite it all, I still have faith.

Also, shout out to my iron supplements.

I just made a substack only to learn folks are boycotting it :( I hate needing to switch over soon. I was so proud of myself for finally making it.

It’d be nice if the company didn’t suck

Say it with me now:

The system isn’t broken, the guardrails are broken. The system is working as designed.

Thank you.

I could be wrong (I frequently am) but most people who call out racism, transphobia, ableism, and other prejudices, at least in my experience, aren't trying to cancel anyone.

They're asking for accountability. They want us to own our errors and be humble about them. And that's reasonable.

I feel very lucky to be alive at the same time with Liza Minnelli, Yoko Ono, and Dick Van Dyke

I’m glad they’re still with us

My aunt, the doctor,
told me a new joke.
She asked:

Why are we hearing
about hospital admissions
rising in the UK and Canada
but not in the US?

I said I did not know.
And so she answered:

Because in the US
no one can afford
to go to a hospital.

And then neither of us laughed.

Can you download iOS 17 still? I really don’t want the apple intelligence on iOS 18.

I just want to download the substack app 😭

I keep a commonplace journal for both keepsake and as references for my work, and the amount of annotations I’ve made in Doppelgänger that I’m going to copy into my journal later is gonna make a hand hurt a lot

Thank you for writing such a great book @naomiaklein.bsky.social ❤️

Democratic politicians need to stop accepting Trump’s white nationalist premise that immigration is bad and proudly and loudly make a positive case for why America’s identity and history as a nation of immigrants is so important.

The headline I feel like is that all the philanthropic donations from billionaires typically have a shitload of restrictions.

Mackenzie is like “you’re doing work to stop something horrible or to help something good? Cool. Here’s a few hundred million.” and the paper is like “wow… so novel”

I can't stress enough that you should take every opportunity that comes your way to support your local public libraries. Many of them are currently struggling and are being DEFUNDED. Local action matters on this front. Don't sit back until those libraries are gone before taking ACTION.

Reminds me of a story I heard in the early 2010s of a parent whose kid had cancer who was in the stage of chemo where you have 0 immune system. They told everyone they to wash their hands in order to visit the kid and not come if they had the sniffles. The parent was made out to be the bad guy 🙄
A friend with a new baby asked guests to mask in order to hold her baby. A relative refused to mask & broke down in tears about her "restrictions"

As a reminder, babies <6 months have the 2nd highest hospitalization rate from Covid after adults 75+ & are too young to be vaxxed

I have been informed
that today
is a day for giving
and in that spirit
if you would like
to do something
to show you give a damn:
you can wear a mask,
and if you
really do give a damn
you can keep wearing it
even on the days
that are not
specifically for giving.

Kids aren't, you know, any different than they ever have been. We're still the same species. Any behaviors manifested by children are a reaction to facts on the ground, to reality. Because they see it for what it is, not what it used to be, not what we pretend it still is.

Tomorrow will probably be day 2 without them ☹️

I’m reading Doppelgänger by @naomiaklein.bsky.social and thinking about how the right called pandemic protocols Nazi behavior, but now the right is embracing Nazi and other fascist actions, values, and aesthetics with a “it’s good actually” attitude.

It’s only been 5 years.
