Workers at a Whole Foods in Philadelphia just voted to become the first unionized store in Amazon’s grocery chain

The union win comes as Amazon, which owns the grocery chain, is also fighting labor organizing in its warehouse and delivery businesses.

“Cecile Richards has created generations of troublemakers who will never stop fighting for the Texas we deserve and the communities we love.”

Richards, who passed away Tuesday at 67, was interviewed for the current print issue of the Texas Observer.
Cecile Richards Isn’t Giving Up the Fight
Despite a brain cancer diagnosis and political setbacks, the Texas native is investing in a new strategy: abortion storytelling for the TikTok age.

Hi! I’ve hosted 3 seasons of Ben & Jerry’s podcast Into The Mix, and I never thought a brand would pay me (well!) to do the work we do and confront the issues we address. This last season was really special. AND if you ever tour the Ben & Jerry’s factory, I’m the voice that leads you into it 🥰🍦
No matter what happens, I can always count on Ben & Jerry's to do the right thing.

Okay, I’m hoping this will gain some traction on Bluesky *inhales* SALEM PUBLIC LIBRARY IN OREGON IS IN DANGER OF CLOSING. This sets a dangerous precedent for state capital libraries!!

This is a continuation of the saga from last year, when we were saved at the last second by the then-mayor. (1/2)

They will go after Wikipedia.

They will go after libraries.

They will go after school boards and public extracurricular activities that are anything but sports.

They will go after archives.

Because knowledge, education, culture, and progressives are all the enemy.

Thinking is the enemy.

The disability community really needs help to stop the massive cuts to Medicaid that are being proposed. Especially if you or a loved one rely on Medicaid services-write or call your representatives and tell them your story.

Honored to have interviewed Cecile Richards for this month's issue of @texasobserver.org magazine, likely one of her final. The Texas-born repro rights icon stressed the importance of abortion storytelling. She truly never gave up the fight. I'll share a link to our conversation soon. Rest in power.

Donald spearheading the downfall of TikTok just to turn around and try to save it is purely manipulation. If successful and the app returns after being banned, it WILL be filled with right-wing fascist propaganda. Do not fall for it.

The issue is with online anything. You own nothing. We need to own books again, movies, music. Start a DVD collection, a CD/vinyl collection, A library. Get a record player and DVD player. Own shit again. Stop making them make you lease everything.
Friendly reminder that if you buy a book on Kindle, you're only paying for the rights to read, not own. If a book truly gets banned, it will be taken away from digital platforms like Kindle, nook, etc. Consider getting physical copies of banned (or other) books!

If you live in an abortion-restricted state, order your abortion pills now. PlanCPill.org will direct you to a provider who delivers to your state. If you live in Texas, you'll need to go through AidAccess.org. Legal jeopardy is on the provider, not the recipient--for now. So order them now.
