We have been careful to avoid using the word coup, but it’s time to call it what it is—this is a coup. Trump signed an executive order granting only the attorney general or the president the authority to interpret laws executed by the executive branch.

Imagine being rich enough to do anything you want and choosing to take food and medicine from starving children to give yourself even more money.

Yesterday I returned to riding 🚑 after a 4 month hiatus. It was a hard push at times, but I’m 2 months ahead on my Achilles rehab with aggressive pt and adding strength training. Since injury I’ve hiked 28k steps on trails multiple times. I can’t thank my partner enough. May this year be awesome!🤘🎉💪

Wild that our EMS statement on Transgender and Gender Diverse patients is published. May this lead to better care for all.

Project 2025 wrongly claims masks do not work, says this was shown by randomized trials, but never cites the papers that supposedly show this.

Just to add a little more info about how poorly Project 2025 does on scientific matters.
Masks work. Again. New Randomized trial

Tonight I had a moment where my dad showed me he saw me. I didn’t expect this to happen. I told him we were both scared for different reasons when I transitioned. And, now I can confirm I’m ok, safe, have become successful, changed a city’s medical understanding of trans folks. Then he replied:

Big day today. I spoke at the regional VA teaching gender affirming care to ALL clinicians. It’s wild thinking back. As a vet who served under “don’t ask don’t tell” I couldn’t be out or I wouldn’t have VA care now. Now I’ve taught clinicians to better care for LGBTQ2IA folks—we can be ourselves.🌈💕🤘

In today’s deep thoughts with Mikaela: Why are we so quick to make enemies and other people? Why does it seem harder to make friends than enemies?

I felt it tonight. My fit was on point. Saw one of my favorite comics and she rocked it. The yahoo by me wouldn’t leave me alone, mansplained tattoos. The comic added us in her bit. He misgendered me yet said my name. The comic asked my pronouns and it ended poorly for him. Moral: Don’t be a dick.💅

Whelp got my voice closer to where I wanted it. Kept it up most of my long shift…but did the misgendering keep coming…someday…sometimes SF can’t come fast enough.

I like working with those who struggle with trauma and addiction. It’s never easy. But sometimes just reminding them you’re there and reminding them of their strengths and the goals they have achieved can really blow my mind. Being supportive and showing them who they are can be so therapeutic.💕

I’m reminded of what somebody once said. If people only knew who I really was, they would want to be friends with me.

The further I go in medical training, the more I’m stuck with my thoughts and lose personal connection. This work is isolating. Even though I work with lots of people it’s lonely.

Trying not to freak out that in 14 weeks I’ll be moving to my fellowship in SF…it feels like both an eternity and too soon!

I saw that a congressman from NC is trying to ban DEI from medical schools to "improve patient safety" and I can't think of a system that needs representation and diversity MORE than healthcare

This was changed to 23 May due to a snow storm. So wake up to me and get some CME/CNE!
I’ll be talking at the WNY VA on January 18th on Gender Affirming Care and Trauma Informed Care for healthcare providers. Times to follow. This will have CME/CNE for at least my two hours.

Tentatively at 1pm.

The VA has made a lot of strides in the last few years in righting wrongs

Recently I had a big day. I was taken by a friend on an impromptu girls day. Got my hair cut for the first time in over 2 years. And I learned a few things. I’m digging the new styling and hopefully what I learned will help me maintain it.

Feeling cute…💕🥰

I guess I can clean up a little. Open to ideas about my hair…wavy hair seems tough in wind and humidity…

Ok, now interview time…
