Hi! My name is Valarie Shanks, I’m a transgender woman from Sultan, Washington. I am officially running to fill the vacancy in the Sultan City Council. The appointed position will last through the November 2027 election.
It’s happening now! I’m actually doing this. I care deeply about my community, and seeing everything happening in Minneapolis has encouraged me to step up and fight for my community. We stand as one against the tyranny of ICE and the illegitimate president.
I’ve thought about running for office way more than I should, honestly.

It’s happening now! I’m actually doing this. I care deeply about my community, and seeing everything happening in Minneapolis has encouraged me to step up and fight for my community. We stand as one against the tyranny of ICE and the illegitimate president.
When is enough? Governors and mayors must use their power to protect their communities. If the illegitimate president is going to occupy our streets, then our legitimate governors and mayors must stand up, grow a spine, and protect their people.
He has abdicated Government here, by declaring us out of his Protection and waging War against us.
I think as of tonight it's imperative on governors to recognize that Trump has abdicated his office by waging war on Americans.
It needs to be stated clearly. I am aware of what this means.

Non-protesting dad just trying to hustle his kids, as young as 6mo, out of the neighborhood. ICE threw a flash-bang INTO HIS car, all 6 kids in the hospital now.

the people of MN have been murdered, brutalized and kidnapped for weeks now and have remained *amazingly* peaceful in the face of it. lecturing citizens to not “take the bait” etc is pretty disrespectful after a point and avoids the real question: how long are they supposed to take this, undefended?
