This feels like the defining image from this year’s Midwest Political Science Association annual meeting.

The National Science Foundatipn paid for a booth in the exhibit hall. But the booth sits empty, because NSF has been DOGE’d, and there is no one left to send.

Patapon is what a window into my brain would look like.

Also Nintendo is really force feeding us 5 star cuisine, not even talking about Metroid Prime 4 Beyond.

Luigi fans, it looks like the DNA evidence is 'fruit from a poison tree'. Cops took DNA without consent from a slice of pizza they gave him. It also seems they likely didn't have probable cause for arrest initially.

Luigi Mangione's lawyers say police used snacks to obtain DNA
A new Pennsylvania filing from Mangione's lawyers accuses the Altoona Police Department of illegally obtaining his DNA with snacks at the police station.

Why is Trump waging a war on the Department of Education?

Because he knows that his biggest enemies are educators and younger generations of learners who are unafraid to speak truth to power.

Attacks on education are central to the fascist playbook.

Being American right now feels like sitting at a table in a restaurant while a loud, angry relative causes a scene—everyone’s watching, and no matter how much I whisper apologies, and show my discomfort, I can’t escape the shame of being associated.

Being a historian, people ask me if I think the US is living through Germany 1933.

I answer no, analogies are always imperfect but to me it feels more like Russia 1999: a blatant theft of state assets and liberals in a fugue state, refusing to believe the arc of progress is bending against them.

Geographic, financial, or even accessibility problems often close off students from attending a traditional four-year college.

We're meeting them where they are by proposing our community colleges offer 4-year bachelor degrees for in-demand career paths.

The governor said the program would make bachelor's degrees more accessible and higher education more affordable.

In Oversight today, my colleagues stuck to their usual script: blaming immigrants for all crime & claiming Dem mayors are too soft. Well, I was curious to know if they’ve ever had an immigrant with a criminal record that they could recall. Tune in!
