Clinical Significance of T-SPOT.TB Test in Patients with Uveitis in South Korea
Tuberculosis (TB), caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis (M. tuberculosis), remains one of the major causes of mortality and morbidity worldwide.1 In 2023, South Korea reported an annual TB incidence rate of 38.2 per 100,000 population, the second highest among countries in the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development and is considered an intermediate-burden country for TB.2-4 Following exposure to M. tuberculosis, approximately 90% of individuals develop latent TB infection (LTBI), a condition defined by a sustained immune response to TB antigens without clinical or microbiological evidence of active disease.
