Interesting @AJOphthalmology paper - migraine is associated with a 2.7x higher risk of central serous chorioretinopathy (CSCR) in a cohort of 800,000 patients, suggesting #migraine-linked vascular dysregulation may influence outer retina/choroid health.

Flagging #EULAR 2024 #Rheumatology update on immunosuppressive drugs in pregnancy, breastfeeding & guidance for men again

V. imp for many of our patients, some PILs out-of-date

TL;DR

Many csDMARDs compatible; tighter on NSAIDs/steroids; TNFi ok through pregnancy; all bDMARDs OK in breastfeeding

I still find it surreal that, almost a decade-and-a-half after leaving New Zealand, I still get emails to say that I am "owed a payment" for not using all my annual and study leave during the couple of years I worked as a doctor there...

I remember HR desperately calling me...

Smiling because the Derm Don, Ian C, is with us today at the Behçet's centre 👍🏻

Skin shenanigans in this disease can include:

- Pseudofolliculitis (acneiform rash)
- Superficial thrombophlebitis
- Erythema Nodosum

(Aphthous ulcers, which is why we have an oral med consultant)

Despite a strong field of candidates for the @rcophth.bsky.social President election, I'm backing Stephen Kaye

His commitment to being a visible, accountable leader who takes action, champions the role of the Ophthalmologist, & fights for SAS doctors & trainee opportunities is key right now

The probability of securing an ST1/CT1 post from 2018-2025 😢(Look at that change for #Psychiatry training)

Structural crisis and lack of training opportunities have created a bottleneck.

I am very saddened to hear about the passing of the amazing Dasha Koneva.

As well as being a friend to many, Dasha was our inspirational Research Matron at the Clinical Eye Research Centre at St Pauls. She was exceptionally hardworking and dedicated to improving patient care and research outcomes.

The new consultants and professors board for St Paul's Eye Unit at the Royal Liverpool University Hospital and Aintree University Hospital, treating the eye diseases (and eye-systemic axis 😉) of the Mersey region and beyond from 1871 to present @neeru_vallabh_ophth @budge1979 @hussamzm81 @drdamoeyes @pr.vitoromano @indu.kmr @austingmccormick @carmelnoonan1 @nicethickfeathers Standing on the shoulders of giants.Did you know the incredible St Paul's Eye Unit started in a private home back in 1871? Founded by Dr. George Edward Walker as the St. Paul's Eye and Ear Infirmary in Liverpool, it has grown from a small charity to a global leader in eye care, moving from St. Paul's Square to a custom-built facility on Old Hall Street in 1912, the "old" Royal Liverpool University Hospital in 1992 and now the new hospital on both Royal and Aintree sites. @nhsuhlg Today, St Paul's offers a full range of adult ophthalmology services, extending its expert care to Alder Hey, Walton and local commuity services. The unit earned the prestigious Freedom of the City of Liverpool in 2015.Thank you to our clinical director Mark Batterbury, lindyg07, @bluetomtom for the new plaque.#StPaulsEyeUnit #LiverpoolHistory #Ophthalmology #EyeCare #RoyalLiverpoolHospital #MedicalHistory
