Since our fucking government isn’t observing World AIDS Day, I will. In 1990, I started taking care of people in the last stages of AIDS in their homes. I did this for nearly two years. The home care company I worked for had meetings for those of us who solely (or nearly solely) took care of PWAs.

<div class="field field-field-text"><p>The president of the International Criminal Court said on Monday that US sanctions imposed on senior court officials disrupt their personal lives but vowed the institution would not yield to outside pressure.</p>
<p>President Donald Trump's administration slapped targeted sanctions on nine ICC officials, including prosecutors and judges, earlier this year in retaliation for investigations into suspected Israeli war crimes. Sources have said Washington is also mulling sanctions against the entire court.</p>
<p>"We never accept any kind of pressure from anyone on issues of interpretation of the statutory framework and adjudication of cases," Judge Tomoko Akane said on the first day of the annual meeting in The Hague of the court's governing body, made up of representatives of its 125 member states.</p>
<p>Akane said the sanctions had unsettled the family lives of targeted officials and disrupted their financial transactions, even in ICC member states in Europe.</p>
<p>The sanctions freeze any US assets the individuals may have and essentially cut them off from the US financial system, with which almost all internationally operating banks have close ties.</p>

There was a video posted a few months ago that explained what "reading levels" were, and I, up to that point, ignorantly believed that had -exclusively- to do with the complexity of words being read, and not "What information, and how effectively, are you digesting from this text?"
One hard part of the literacy problem in the United States is there are a lot of people -- some of them with college degrees and beyond -- who don't realize that they are bad at reading

I created an Email List that’s gathering 10k people who pledge to give just $1 to people struggling in the Black Community. When the list grew to 2k I tested it with a Black Woman who lost her job & struggled w/ past due bills; I sent out 1 email, & with their $1 they quickly raised her $950 goal.
