Fellow #sysadmin folks... always be checking your cloud spend, and your network/VPN configs! Had some traffic going to an AWS endpoint, that shouldn't have, and that cost a couple bucks. #networking #cloudcomputing

Also... something disturbing. www.whitehouse.gov/presidential...

Section 2d(ii) directs DHS to have all the States prepare a "quick reaction force" within their National Guards, to be deployed at-will. Not sure it qualifies as martial law, but pretty close?

Something flying under the radar here: a 1000+ VOIP providers are getting disconnected by the FCC for lacking robocall counter-measures. There are a lot of smaller business providers that are impacted: might see some legitimate phone lines and alarm call-outs go dark.

Cynical take: we might as well pass a law that requires a conspicuous & decent portrait of the President in all homes, schools, and places of business. Then the government can sell approved pics and frames at the Post Office to give them income. And then we'll be like those "other countries"! (sigh)

You know... with all the redefining of truth, science, geography, etc, it's hard to remember that hurricanes still exist, and need to be tracked and studied properly. And whoever gets hit by one is probably f-ed due to FEMA resources being used for internment.

Encountered a "Patty" AI order taker at Burger King earlier today. Mostly worked, but still needed to involve the drive-thru person, who was not a fan of the new system. I get why they're trying it, but it is a bit weird. #AI #automation

Friend of mine was trying to roll cigarettes, and as a lark, I asked one of the LLMs about it. The results were both useful and entertaining. 😀 #ai

On Saturday, April 5, it's estimated millions of Americans took to the streets for “Hands Off!” demonstrations. Even with conservative estimates, we’re talking one of the largest mobilizations in recent American history.

But you’d barely know it happened.
Print Media to Mass Protests: “Please Turn to Page 18”
Here’s how newspapers across America minimized one of the largest demonstrations since Trump’s return to power.
