I used to think this poem I wrote a few years ago was funny.

Hope is the thing with feathers

Okay fine whatever

The fucking eagle that's still

Eating Prometheus's liver

Has feathers too

It's hard to overstate what a catastrophe it would be for moviemaking and moviegoers if the Ellisons are allowed to acquire Warner Brothers and merge it with Paramount. I know that rooting for Comcast and/or Netflix sticks in a lot of throats here but those would be far better alternatives... >

The big surprise for me today is that I feel worse about what’s happening to Teen Vogue than I do about what’s happening to Sixty Minutes.

I thought I was going to love Springsteen: Deliver Me from Nowhere because of my deep knowledge and long personal experience with Bruce Springsteen’s music. I was wrong. I love it because of my deep knowledge and long personal experience with the creative process and major depressive disorder.

Talent isn't rare. Throw an apple & you hit someone with talent. Perseverance? rare. Work ethic? exceedingly rare; the willingness to grind. Being able to endure the scorn, rejection & privation a life in the arts dooms you to in the United States is unicorn-scarce. But talent? Talent is everywhere.

It only takes one thing to make you a real writer: insecurity.
Saw a post recently about what makes someone a "serious" writer. It included studying writing at university, partaking in multi-day workshops, attending conferences, attending awards ceremonies.

Sounds a lot like pay-to-play, to me.

Dems confused about why they're polling lower than GOPs? Think of it this way: one side is vile, rabid vermin - the other side let them in the house, feeds them, doesn't discipline them, dotes on them, responds to their needs, often takes their side in territorial disputes, asks you for $5.00 often.
