Trump and Stephen Miller’s authoritarian playbook is painfully predictable:

1️⃣ Target a Democratic city
2️⃣ Lie about crime
3️⃣ Deploy heavily armed agents to aggressively detain innocent people and violate their rights
4️⃣ Create stress and chaos
5️⃣ Use self-created chaos as excuse for militarization

MAJOR NEWS: @GavinNewsom signed SB 79, my bill allowing more housing near public transit — rail, subway, rapid bus.

It’s a huge step for housing in California. It’ll create more homes, strengthen our transit systems & reduce traffic & carbon emissions.

Thank you, Governor!

Kristi Noem, while governor of South Dakota, supplemented her roughly $130,000 salary by secretly accepting $80,000 donated to a political nonprofit she was affiliated with, records show.

She never disclosed this income on federal ethics forms.

HAPPENING NOW — This morning, Mayor Brandon Johnson signed an executive order establishing “ICE-free zones.”

“That means that city property and unwilling private businesses will no longer serve as grounds for these raids,” Johnson said to applause.

Wrote my second substack article ever. This is one that took a ton of work behind the scenes to make sure a solution to oregons property tax system makes sense. Feel free to let me know what you think!

Couldn’t agree more! That being said, I’d prefer an efficient system once people switch, so they can see the benefits right away. Instead of using the fees to make the system efficient after the fact.
Make driving more expensive by charging folks to park and to obtain special permits. Then work with folks who live in the impacted neighborhood and use the parking revenue to make walking and biking safer. Seems like a common sense policy to me.

Portland is facing dire transit service cuts and we're being told our 30 year old indoor sports arena is out of date and taxpayers must fix it.

Transit uses obsolete infrastructure every day. It would be nice to update the rail system so it can run at normal speeds on hot days, for example.
