This new book about the Edmund Fitzgerald is literally flying off the shelves. Went to stores that supposedly had it in stock twice this week and all copies were gone by the time I got there. Mid-Con has 60 holds for it.

Was talking on the phone with a colleague earlier when her dog, who was chewing on an electrical cord, nearly electrocuted himself. For about 5 seconds I had no idea what was going on and thought someone had broken into her house.

Just this morning, I witnessed a KC bus blatantly blasting through a red light. And to add the finishing touch, it was right in front of the streetcar.

Also, I frequently backed up my phone on my computer, surely that won't leave a trail of incriminating evidence, such as those supposedly deleted texts.

Did they produce load files with metadata for the Epstein docs? Flat PDFs are pretty useless.

Other than the obvious, this is what I can't get past. The first thing I learned when I entered the working world was "don't put anything in an email that you wouldn't want on the front page of the New York Times."
The crisis of elite impunity that is ruining our society cannot be more clearly or convincingly demonstrated than with the fact that all of these people wrote all this stuff into an email and hit Send.

Y'all this is the best. I'm in rural Oklahoma and there's people stopped on a lot of the exit ramps along the highway watching the aurora. Many have likely never seen it before. One old southern dude stopped beside me asking if I see the "big orange lights" too. We're all just little curious humans.

Nights like this are the best. All the trouble of the world is momentarily set aside while we're collectively marveling at the pretty lights and nature together. This is how it's supposed to be. Life, I mean. Shared joy and all. 🙂

I was legitimately starting to wonder if I would ever see the Northern Lights, but even here in suburban Kansas City, they made an appearance tonight.
