Coming January 2026
Easy fix. Donald Trump participated in an insurrection on Jan 6th 2021. Per the 14th Amendment he was ineligible to hold office. All his actions taken during this illegal tenure are null and void. And we throw every last one of his pardons back in jail.
Mass pardons are coming. There will be no accountability without treating those as null and void. And that means a future administration taking an official position that Trump is not the legitimate president right now because he is disqualified by the 14th Amendment. The two things are inextricable.

Japanese reprisal bombings in China for the Doolittle raids alone are comparable to the deaths in Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
The thing that really gets me about this entire conversation, is thousands of people under Japanese were dying on a weekly basis directly from Japanese actions. Why are their lives less important than those in Hiroshima and Nagasaki?
My question, as always, is what would you have done to get Japan to surrender? Continue fire bombing? Blockade Japan until everyone starved to death? If you say negotiate, what are you willing to give up? Democracy? Occupation? Executing war criminals?

Yea this plan was ass. But it does have Trump's signature greed, so ethier the Russians played him perfectly or this isn't true.

Both are bad.
Republican Senator Mike Rounds said Secretary of State Marco Rubio, in a call to senators, confirmed the so-called 28-point “peace plan” was actually a Russian wishlist and is “not the administration’s position”. Nor is there any threat to cut off weapons or intelligence to Ukraine.

This is a sign of how dangerous it has always been to not be Conservative in America. We are perfectly willing to allow extremism as long as it is far right extremism.

Kash Patel looks hilariously uncomfortable here.

This is the face of a man who deeply regrets having the three bean burrito for lunch.

Had Steven's gotten his way with Reconstruction I firmly believe we would not have gotten Trump. Stick that in your alt history pipe and smoke it for a bit.

Also after watching the movie Lincoln I cannot stop imagining him as Tommy Lee Jones.

Knock knock.

"It Opens."
One of my personal heroes, hit the nail on the head.

I can't believe their are Democrats considering embracing Marjorie Taylor Greene after seeing the reaction to Kamela Harris campaigning alongside Liz Cheney.

The 7YW is vitally important to the AWI. The trouble is we tend to paint a narrative ofthe taxation England engaged in with the American colonies post 7YW as exceptional rather than a fairly ordinary act of metropolitan colonization.
Maybe, the 7YW is actually the more important 18th century conflict?

I will see myself out.
I agree. My students don’t understand why the Stamp Act is important without discussing the SYW specifically because narrative wise it doesn’t make sense to them why England suddenly comes in trying to reassert control and pushes hard on the issue on taxes.

This is just a bugbear of mine in studying American history. The reason African involvement in the Slave Trade gets overlooked in common discourse is because racists try to use this fact to imply that Black people being the primary driver of enslavement in West Africa means it wasn't actually racism
Man, I wish I could get the New York Times to pay me to write about history that was new to me.

lol

(This history is not new. In fact, he cites the scholars who have ALREADY told us about this.)

It's very curious to me that Laura Roslin would cling to the articles of colonization and the structure of the Quorum of 12 as envisioned by those Articles as the colonies were turned to ash. Her government clings to institution long after they no longer make sense. Tom Zarek was right.

The War of the Ring was a proxy war on behalf of the Eagles!
That those damned eagles could’ve just flown Frodo and the ring to Mount Doom but had some secret vested interest in prolonging the War of the Ring.

Voters handed Democrats a crushing victory in purple Virigina and victories throughout the country in the midst of the longest shut down in history in which Trump was working to starve children.

And then Senate Dems do this.

This is folding when you have a royal flush. It's staggeringly stupid.

United Flight 327 You do not have clearance to take off.

United 327?

Suddenly the ATC hears: "LEROOOOOY JENKINS!"
This is a parody account. This is not a real quote.

Stop sharing it.

And if you say, "well, it's ok because it might as well be real," I will block you.
