In a blow to Gov. Jared Polis’ pro-housing agenda, the Colorado state Senate on Monday night defeated a measure that would have given churches, schools and universities the right to build housing on their land.

Colorado Senate rejects “YIGBY” measure, a priority for Jared Polis that would have boosted housing on church land
The measure, House Bill 1169, would have overridden local zoning laws, escalating a long-running dispute between the state and local governments over housing policy

I found this out from the condor volunteers. bsky.app/profile/band...
Personal news: I've seen a California Condor.

Over a dozen trips into areas where they frequent with no luck, and today they're within shouting distance, if shouting at a condor did anything. I'm not shouting. Thread later 🪶

Condors often fly over 200 MILES in a day by riding the winds. I imagine turkey vultures can be similar. It's so long for birds you normally just see chilling!
How cool is this? I was hawk watching from the roof of my SUNY Oswego building when I saw this tagged Turkey Vulture go overhead. I couldn't quite read the number. I texted my friend Kennedy 28 km NE at Derby Hill and told her to be on the lookout. 90 minutes later, BOOM! A07!

I've never seen a killdeer chick before, with the innovative ways they guard their nests from my lenses I always assumed they stayed hidden!

Although juveniles, these ones were out in the open, I just stayed still on the ground for 20 minutes and they came scampering within 50 feet! GLORIOUS 🪶🐣

Things I learned from the replies below.
1) This might not be Bird's Eye Speedwell as there are several similar ones.
2) people really love iNaturalist if you need to ID a plant (or other wildlife)
