At the time he sent these emails, Larry was 13 years into his second marriage
The emails have Summers reporting to Epstein about his attempts to date a Harvard economics student & to hit on her during a seminar she was giving.

Roger Marshall understands risk pools just fine. He’s betting that the median voter does not and, having lived through the Obamacare debate, i believe that’s a safe bet.

He’s a cynic trying to destroy the ACA and we should just say that plainly.
Tell me you don’t understand risk pools without telling me you don’t understand risk pools

Taxes are way, way too low
In San Francisco, a couple spent $250,000 to create a music room that shows off their guitar collection. Part of the home’s “fun level,” the space has velvet drapes for sound absorption and a LED-lit coffered ceiling.

Really makes you wonder, who is Manfred’s man?

(I’ll see myself out)
These new details from last summer's confrontation between Rob Manfred and Bryce Harper are absolutely insane.

MLB officials threatening players will "end up in a ditch" for disrespecting Manfred is outrageous behavior.

I wonder what band they were in town to see?
Got back to my hotel. Group got on elevator same time. Man (probably mid 40’s) sees a drink on the floor of elevator. Says it looks “brand new. Ice isn’t even melted.”
Him and his girl both start drinking it. “It’s great. Rum and Coke!”
THE FLOOR DRINK!

There’s a sort of Dunning-Kruger effect happening where people who read widely, consider various perspectives, and put in effort to understand views they disagree with worry that they don’t do that enough, while people who don’t do any of that accuse others of being in a bubble and call it a day.

Marcy Wheeler in shambles
“It took more than a year after Trump was defeated for the Justice Department to convene a grand jury to hear evidence in the alleged criminal scheme by Trump to use fake electors to overturn the results of the 2020 election.”

Biden Justice Department slow-walked key decisions in Trump legal probes

Normie voters that are needed to beat a very very strong incumbent like Collins are not voting for Nazi tattoo guy. JFC

And this assumes there’s not more to come!! I know which side of that bet I’m taking
I thought this was obvious but perhaps not. There will not be ads run with Susan Collins name on them or some identifiable GOP PAC. A dark money group named Puppy and Apple Pie Loving Maine Voters Against Nazism will spend $40 million carpet bombing the state with ads of the guy with the Nazi tattoo
I don’t think that’s accurate: they couldn’t attack his tattoo without alienating their base.

They are going to plaster him calling himself a communist across every billboard, though.

My dad was a union tradesman, my hands are soft AF and I’m good with that. Because of course, that’s the whole idea! Upward mobility for yhe next generation is the core of the 20th century American Dream

Long way of saying, men will spend $80k on a truck instead of going to therapy
"men who clearly have hang-ups about their ability to perform a certain kind of blue collar masculinity" is a society-wide issue. There's a reason pickup truck sales have continued going up (to the degree the F-150 is now America's best selling vehicle) even as blue collar employment has gone down
i mean i don't think you can separate any of this discussion from the fact that so many of the participants are men who clearly have hang-ups about their inability to perform a certain kind of blue collar masculinity

Can we all just agree that Ezra Klein has completely lost the thread and move on? The wunderkind policy wonk is now a middle-aged pundit publicly working through his various phases of ennui. He has no ideas, just vacuous slogans and vibes. The trajectory is clear and it only gets worse
There's a lot to unpack, digest and consider here, though some of the solutions they suggest seem unworkable.

But it's striking to me that they dismiss @aoc.bsky.social as "AOC at the Met gala," when she is actually an example of a working-class candidate with great communication skills who wins.

I don’t disagree but the fact that this is about *Ronald Reagan* of all people really shows how far our standards have fallen
I think the Reagan ad is most effective not by the topic but by reminding everyone that presidents don't have to sound like insane morons.
