i am begging for cis people to realize that this is the end goal; make existing in the public sphere fundamentally untenable for trans people such that we'll detransition/stay in the closet, or worse. it's never been about women's spaces, or the sanctity of sports, or Protecting The Youth
Attempting to ban trans women from using the women’s restroom isn’t about just making us use the men’s restroom—it’s about trying to make it so unsafe for us to use public restrooms that we disappear from public life.

You’re not marginalized as a trans person for not wanting to take HRT. Complaining about how marginalized you are within transness for not wanting to take HRT used to just be annoying, but in this moment where trans healthcare is under assault it feels actively malevolent.

Cyberlibertarian advocacy groups like EFF are not fit for this political moment — one they helped usher us toward by normalizing right-wing narratives around digital tech and upholding the notion that tech was never inherently as big of a threat as other capitalist firms.
We applaud Meta’s efforts to try to fix its over-censorship problem but will watch closely to make sure it is a good-faith effort and rolled out fairly and not merely a political maneuver to accommodate the upcoming U.S. administration change.
