I had a geocities, then a myspace, then a facebook, then a twitter. I don't mind that companies come & go. In fact, they should. We just need to make sure it isn't painful when they do. That's how we end up propping up bad systems.
Businesses live & die on a shorter timeline than people, and if all our identities and communities get bound to businesses then why invest in them
