'Where must we go...
we who wander this Wasteland

Knowing that Elvis Presley was (along with the Statue of Liberty and Michelangelo's David) one of the major influences on Prometheus' Engineers, this is even more interesting to put into perspective. (1/2)

Some thoughts I had on Hail, Caeser! after a rewatch last year. I love this little movie so much. It's grown into something of a real sleeper hit in the Coens' filmography, honestly, and I am all in on this reevaluation it seems to be receiving now.

I had the honor of making this painting for Guillermo del Toro's Frankenstein.

Fan of the Badlands' diet-Dune/ elevated-Riddick/ Conan the Hunter of Trophies take on the Predator. Glad it's getting the recognition it deserves. Also worth acknowledging just how much Prey rescued the reputation of the series and set the stage for Badlands. Tratchenberg really can do it all.

If Avatar is a 1970s van with Roger Dean style airbrush sci-fi art on its side playing prog rock like Yes or Styx, then Predator: Badlands is a 1970s van with Richard Corben style airbrush sci-fi art blasting War Pigs by Black Sabbath

I got such a kick out of the reveal that @thespaceshipper.com is referring to here for the specific reason that he is alluding to here. Wonderful stuff.

This show is truly incredible so far.
There are also several jokes written for me, which had me in stitches. I feel seen. 😂

And there's a pretty awesome sci-fi detail that I can't talk about right now because it's related to the big reveal.

I am going to be insufferable about Pluribus. Those first two episodes are the coolest thing I've seen on TV in years. Vince Gilligan doing a long-form Twilight Zone episode in that distinctly Vince Gilligan way. Rhea Seehorn back on our TV screens every week. God. I'm hooked.

Yes, please.
Cineverse has acquired Guillermo del Toro’s ‘PAN’S LABYRINTH’ for a 20th anniversary theatrical re-release in 2026.

I wonder if this influenced @realgdt.bsky.social on Crimson Peak.

Getting some heavy Invasion of the Body Snatchers influences here. God, I can't wait for the ride along with this show and its mystery every week.

Can't stop thinking about how good it is that we live in a world where we're only a few months off from a new Sam Raimi picture.

It is eternally funny to me that, tonally and thematically, Alien: Resurrection and Alien: Covenant seem to be the two most prominent reference points within the franchise for Alien: Earth.

I adore Covenant, and Resurrection is way underrated. This bodes very well for me.

I like in ‘Alien: Earth’ how the character of Morrow’s biomechanical left hand has the tones/translucency of an H.R. Giger design, particularly like this painting:

One of the most successful threads I ever posted at the other site was a breakdown of Universal's many attempts (these weren't the first or possibly even last) to kickstart a new Universal Monster slate that they abandoned as soon as one underperformed. I might redo that thread right now.
Both DRACULA UNTOLD and THE MUMMY were announced as the start of a shared universe, both underwent significant reshoots just to tease further movies, and both led to Universal saying "actually the NEXT movie will be the start of the shared universe" when they weren't successful. Absolutely wild shit

43 years ago today, it was a great day for lovers of genre cinema.

They woke up and had the choice of going to see Ridley Scott's Blade Runner or John Carpenter's The Thing. 👌

None was a great success, quite the contrary, and the reviews were generally mixed, if not negative. 😂

so the Alien Earth tv show has a little critter that attacks people's faces and turns them into zombies....
and the old Alien 2 Sulla Terra italian rip off movie had a monster that worked similarly. lol
Hope someone asks Noah Hawley about this
