Truth Socialってなかなかバカにできないというか怖いな〜と思うのは、あれ使ってる人って毎日"Truth"という名前のアプリを開いて、Truth(旧Twitterでいうtweet)を読んでるんですよね。

そこでTrumpが日々発出するTruthを読んで、それをReTruth(旧Twitterでいうリツイート)するわけ。トランプが発信する内容は常にtruthになる。

一般語彙としてのtruthとSNSサービス内の技術用語としてのtruthが一緒になって、"truth"という概念のインテグリティが破壊されてしまっている。

Petabytes of critical government research that is marked for possible deletion cannot be archived because of technical and legal restrictions, meaning it is very likely to be lost forever:

Massive, Unarchivable Datasets of Cancer, Covid, and Alzheimer's Research Could Be Lost Forever
Days before Robert F. Kennedy Jr. announced that 10,000 HHS staffers would lose their jobs, a message appeared on NIH research repository sites saying they were "under review."

Yesterday when I talked to @maxkozlov.bsky.social about this, I wondered which of my NIH-funded colleagues would have their grants cut.

All of them. Research on pandemic viruses has now ground to a screeching halt in the US.

Exclusive: NIH to cut grants for COVID research, documents reveal
Studies on climate change and South Africa are also on the latest list of grants to be terminated, according to updated documents obtained by Nature.

The coolest thing I’ve seen today is that a bunch of volunteer public health professionals and developers have restored the CDC website from before January 20th 2025.

This differs from an archive in that they want to rebuild the links between pages and replicate the full website.

I got laid off today, with the rest of 18F.

18F was an elite federal software shop. We made gov't websites work better, more efficiently for the American people. We saved taxpayers from getting screwed over by contractors. And were fired for it.

We made this website to tell our story:

Ending virology and vaccine research is far more dangerous than virology and vaccine research itself.

We can mitigate risks in the lab, but we can’t mitigate the catastrophic risk of being unprepared and defenseless against emerging viruses.
It is worth paying close attention to the new bill "Dangerous Viral Gain of Function Research Moratorium Act" introduced by Senator Roger Marshall.

If enacted, it will effectively stop all of virological research, including for vaccines.

When people ask about the image generator they should use, I point them at Google’s ImageFX for Imagen 3.

Midjourney is better for art, Recraft is better for workflows, etc. but Imagen 3 is just the easiest to use and most likely to produce what you want the first time. labs.google/fx/tools/ima...

Still probably one of the best pieces ever written about the people who do go Nazi and what that looks like. This is from the 1940s but every time I read it the more I appreciate the game Dorothy Thompson played.

Rather than restricting data to only the richest and most powerful (as reddit, facebook, and twitter do), bsky makes it available to everyone.

Personally, I think that's a good thing.
