The fascist turn in this country doesn’t purely come from MAGA. It’s in the blue cities that purge the homeless. It’s in TERF politics. It’s in the belief in a “strong border” just with slightly more due process. It’s the disdain for red states full of disenfranchised people.
If your response to hearing that a bunch of people died in a flash flood is anything other than heartbreak and compassion I think you might be the baddies

A doctor from Colombia once told me “in my country, Easter weekend is full of debauchery because god is dead for three days and there’s nobody watching” and I think about him every year.

"it can be hard to speak up but courage is contagious and if you are willing to be truthful others who want to but are afraid will also follow" is really good advice to hear from a parent, wish the context had been something other than "tell me what the surprise gift your father got for me is"

@klobuchar.senate.gov Are you planning on voting no with our patriotic senator, your colleague in arms, @smith.senate.gov ?

Or are you folding like the spineless fool @schumer.senate.gov ?

Your vote decides my vote for or against you the next time you’re on the ballot. Fight for us!

I had the revelation that a) I'm building garden boxes & b) I'm learning to spin wool and so c) I could feasibly grow plants with which to dye wool I will use for spinning/have already spun and can then make something from.

What magic is this?

I keep seeing forecasts for a bomb cyclone in the Midwest on Friday and I'm preemptively so very sorry for all my human-barometer friends. I guess barometric pressure is going to be as low as in a cat2 hurricane, which just seems rude.

Toaster snuggles 🥰 he really wanted to lick my chin, I really didn't want my chin licked, & his compromise was to snooze breath-to-breath.

Guess who is getting his teeth brushed soon.

My biggest complaint about Libby is how passively pushy it is about books w big holds lists. I know my book has 67 people waiting on it but I have it for 18 more days. Please stop. I have another book to finish first. 🙃

(Is there a way to turn this off until there's ~7 days left in my lending?)

I was just giving Lena some back scratches and watching a ton of hairs fly off - she's not a heavy shedder normally - and I realized, it's coming into shedding season. Everyone's getting brushed a bunch this month, and only Basil will for sure enjoy it. Toaster will HATE IT.

Omg this fragrance is EXTREMELY Piña Coladas coded. I called it as soon as I saw the label and the descriptions do not disappoint

Omfg my job has OneNote and I feel like a giant weight has been lifted. My last job got rid of OneNote and I grieved. It is one of my most important work ADHD supports and it feels like welcoming an old friend home after a long absence.

I'm reading "How to keep house while drowning" by kc davis, & I love/hate that this little book is challenging nearly every preconception & assumption i have around housekeeping and, more importantly, rest.

School play gets canceled for "inappropriate content".

In response students write [REDACTED], their own anti-censorship play skewering the school district, sells out performances, and ultimately takes gold at the Lenaea High School Theatre Festival.

First day at my new job is in the books!

"How was it???" I hear you asking. WELL.

In HR orientation I was explicitly encouraged to attend protests. To attend graduations at the career development center to celebrate with graduates who don't have folks who can attend. (1/?)

Today I'm snuggling my pets, listening to an audiobooks my wife, & alternating between knitting a baby blanket for queer friends & working on a jigsaw puzzle with my wife too.

I'm also prepping for my 1st day of New Job, which i think I'll love.

I think this is what "protecting your peace" is?

Today was my last day at my now-old job.

For the next few days, no emails will find me well. No emails will find me at all.

No Outlook notifications. No Teams calls. No ubiquitous sounds that fill a person with dread.

I'm free.

This UTTERLY FANTASTIC artist made my wedding dress - a perfect garment that I love with my whole heart. If you were at my wedding or have seen the pics, you know it's more incredible than words.

If you have a few bucks, please please please help keep her business open.
I am VERY hesitant to share this. I know there are people who are dealing with way more pressing issues than me & it's taken me since the end of Nov. to humble myself enough to ask for help. I have a lot of weird guilt surrounding asking for help so if you can thank you so much.

I had a dream last night wherein I was back in an office at a new job, and trying to troubleshoot a network issue with a young coworker (~25).

Turns out he had tried to download Limewire, couldn't understand why it was blocked, and DID NOT KNOW that it was more common to get a virus than a song.

Ooooh, what the actual heck went on here?

Tldr, Xcel energy sold land to a developer at a price that matched a recent appraisal with the expectation/agreement that a data center reliant on Xcel power would be built there. (1/2)
