Intro:

Hi, I'm a dad and a coder and a general nerd. I recently got into D&D and herbal tea, which is fun. I'm normally on Mastodon, but I'm checking out Bluesky, too.

The talks at @beyondtellerrand.com inspired me to think about a lot of things, but one thing struck me:

That I use my phone a LOT, but I don't always *see* the phone, I'm much more intent on the people I'm contacting through it, the tasks I'm completing or the new stuff I'm learning while using it:

I actually like math so long as I have something to use it for.

I was always confused by people not liking word problems. “But those make it all make sense!”

Last year, Republicans silenced her.

This year, many stood beside her and defeated four anti-trans bills.

This is the power of standing up for your beliefs and for what's right, and good trouble.

National Democrats, take notice.

One bill would remove trans children from their parents, and the other would ban drag shows and Pride marches

Has anyone tried both Custom GPTs and Claude Projects? I've only used Claude Projects, and I'm curious how they compare. #chatgpt #claude

This is how you refuse to comply.

The orange gremlin and his henchmen have power again, and it is depressing as hell. But I will not stop doing what is right just because those in power believe in hate.

Everyone is welcome here.

Every time something breaks in my home, I wish homes were designed with accessible utilities. Electrical, plumbing, etc -- I wish it were all in open-and-closeable runs instead of entombed in drywall.

In the State of JS survey when I answered I was a woman, I was asked to share this link to invite more women:

I nearly didn't do it, the JS ecosystem drives me nuts, but if I don't contribute, it will continue to drive me nuts and I'll remain unrepresented...

When someone says something is "bad", ask for specifics. Know what they're actually talking about.

Depending on how important the subject is, look into it. Double check to see if they're right.

Someone simply insisting something is "bad" should never be enough to convince an adult.

One thing that #DuckDuckGo gets very right: feedback forms.

Every time I click "Submit feedback" in their search, browser, or other products, the form is as simple and fast as possible. No extraneous fields, no logging in, just fast feedback. I love it.
