The solution is very simple. Just don't go. Why on earth would you want to go to America anyway?

This is why getting off gas heating sooner rather than later makes sense. Those still relying on it in the 2040s will be sharing the maintenance costs among a much smaller number of bill payers.
New study estimates that German households who remain on natural gas in 2045 could be stuck paying 10x what they pay today for gas pipeline maintenance. As other households electrify, gas utilities will spread the same maintenance costs over fewer remaining customers, raising prices dramatically.
Last gas-heated homes in Germany could face extra costs of 4,000 euros per year – analysis

Canvasser: "And who are you thinking of voting for?"

Resident: "I'm a Green Party member."

C: "And would you consider voting for Your Party?"

R: "Of course. Why else would I be a member of it?"

We've got some Nesta reaction to the Budget up, underpinned by some brilliant speedy analysis by my colleague Dan Lewis.

The more you have, the less you know it.

The only people more likely than not to understand where their income places them in the UK distribution are those with incomes in the lowest fifth.

We can save time this Budget day by not bothering watching the "Opposition" response to the Budget, as it's largely irrelevant.

(And anyway, we already know it will not critque the Budget in the ways it actually needs to be critiqued.)

Apparently "unacceptable" needs to be in quotes because that's just someone's opinion.

No. Abuse is always unacceptable. It does not need quote marks.

Perhaps Nick Clegg should tell the Democrats what the Lib Dems learnt to their cost in 2011: being offered an unwinnable vote on your policy is not the same as being offered the actual implementation of your policy.

So it turns out that Americans *can* elect a socialist if they put their minds to it! (Most Democrats are a long way from socialism, let alone communism.)

Congratulations to Zohran Mamdani, the new mayor of New York, the richest city in the world. I look forward to seeing what he can do with it.

If you blame migrants collectively for the horrible actions of a few but do not hold white people collectively responsible when white people commit heinous crimes, that's racism. Just saying.

I don't think anyone wins elections by "delivering for the people of [country/city]".

I think they do it by telling a story people want to believe in.

The parties currently doing that well are Reform (dishonestly) and the Greens (with genuine hope).

I expect Chris Mason is pretty disappointed this morning that he can't now publish his carefully written "Reform are now dead cert to win Wales" piece.

Why did Scotland provide police for his trip at all? They didn't invite him as far as I know; therefore they should not have felt any obligation to protect him either. That's his responsibility. Unless, of course, the police operation was to protect Scotland from him...

"The Green membership means NOTHING, when dastardly Jimmery Croopins was Labour leader *SPIT* he failed miserably in two elections at 500k lunatic members"

Guys, if the Greens can get 40% of the vote like Labour in 2017 it'll do just fine. We've already seen that a landslide is possible with 33%.

I like this. I do remember in the 90s and 00s feeling that despite all that was going on, things were gradually getting better overall. I am determined to keep believing that can be the case, but it's harder than it used to be right now. Let's make hope normal again.

No, I have never engaged with them (in fact, I always block), and no, I have never searched for anything of that ilk.
