Spent 40 mins yesterday driving out to my mum’s expecting to find her dead, injured or ill. She hadn’t responded to messages for a day and phone didn’t answer and she hasn’t been well.

She was fine; Optus outage impacted her on Sunday and she had no idea her phone wasn’t working.

Let's face it: the Australian government siding with colonial interests isn't exactly a turn up for the books.

I have committed to four cycling events so far this year, with the first one coming up in six weeks. That one's here in Sydney. Then Mudgee in early May; Bowral in October; and Melbourne in October. Lots of cycling tourism ahead

So, the following thread is my initial review and critique of the new $864m Sydney Fish Markets which opened in mid-January after years of planning, design and development. It came in late, over budget, and is an admittedly lovely piece of architecture.

The assaults by police on protestors in Sydney last night were sadly the inevitable result of restrictive government policy, aggressive policing, and a terrible decision to invite the representative of a genocidal government.

Not too far away, Mr Speaker, protestors might end up being beaten or shot.

It may not seem possible, but Angus Taylor as leader of the Opposition would be even worse for the Coalition than Ley. I hope he wins his challenge.

A lot of manufactured moral panic over the weekend about e-motorbikes (although always conflated as e-bikes). It fuels anti-cyclist sentiment and leads to incidents like being buzzed by an SUV at 80km/h. At that speed any contact would be damaging and potentially fatal.

The decision to put a shared bike path in front of the new Sydney Fish Market is causing a clash between commuter cyclists and visitors to the site, riders say.

Good morning on this wet and dreary Monday in Sydney. The weather matches my mood as we 'welcome' the Israeli president in service of 'unity'.

I'm unclear on the exact mechanics of this unifying visit, since the local jewish community has decried the visit from a war criminal...

The same side bitching about consequences to the point of splitting the Coalition are out there in states like Queensland pushing "adult crime, adult time" policies without any sense of irony or shame.

I’m intrigued by this notion being implicitly advanced by the NSW Premier that there’s an appropriate level of protest against genocide, but he’s worried we’ll cross that line. Therefore, there’s to be no protesting.

For years, Starmer's critics on the left have warned that he was trashing Labour values, kowtowing to the rich and powerful while hurting the poor and the living world.
Every time, people here and elsewhere leapt up to call us "closet Tories" and "Reform enablers".
Funny how they've gone so quiet.
