Bodies are dumb and unfair.

Not only will hair grow and require shaving over third degree burned (and grafted) skin, but you can still have a period while healing (and bleeding) from fibroid removal surgery and a series of post-op ruptured ovarian cysts. I’m so over this. Come on menopause!

Day 11 post op on a “simple” procedure with a 1-2 day recovery. Day 4 things went to hell and since then I’ve had 2 CT scans, lots of bloodwork, a day in the ER and today I started antibiotics for an infection.

Reproductive organs are stupid and I swear mine are trying to kill me before menopause

Maybe there's been changes to anesthesia presurgical prep since earlier this year, but this "minor" surgery with a short recovery time has more prepwork, bloodwork, med changes than anything I, spouse or kid has experienced.

That's making me nervous, but I'm still hopeful for a good outcome.

Iron infusion #11 today with 12 and 13 scheduled for next two weeks. This getting older/perimenopause thing is kinda annoying, but glad my doctors don’t mess around anymore.

It’s official. I have an empty nest with both kids in college.

Oldest is finishing up his Masters in BioMed Engineering (5yr Bachelor/Master program), and youngest just started their freshman yr going into Applied Math (Cryptography) with a side of Theater Tech.

It's a medical Monday. Spent the last few hours making Dr appts for family members, refilling specialty scripts, confirming appts etc. And this was an EASY day with little wait time. The US healthcare system is set up to fail patients who don't have the time or knowledge to do this work.

"We're gonna see just how well this cat calming pheromone spray works," as I spritz the carriers for the double vet appt this afternoon. I've just spent a week dealing with non-recognition aggression (it's going poorly) so from now on Phineas and Ferb go together whether they both need it or not.

It's been months of med/dental appts for the family, incl the cat. Now the cats aren't tolerating each other, we still don't have on-campus housing confirmed for the youngest next month, the world is on fire, and I am anxious.

I can only ask so much of the KPop Demon Hunter soundtrack.

My eighth iron infusion is tomorrow morning with more to come. Can't wait to see what my current numbers are cause 8 weeks ago they were low, but just barely "okay." 4 weeks ago some had halved and ferritin was at 4.

Between that and nausea inducing meds making food hard, I feel downright bad.

We were a pretty rare house in the 80's, especially in rural PA. Our first was a TRS-80, then a Tandy 2000. We even had a dot matrix printer. (Dad said he went to some of those first COMDEX events)

There's a good reason this English major ended up with a campus job in the IT dept.
I'm curious, peeps: what was the first computer you can remember using?

The first computer I would have used would have been the BBC Micro at primary school, but the first computer we had at home was a Commodore 64.

With the loss of Joanns and rising costs, it looks like my Etsy shop won't make it past this year, and I'm okay with that. I tried to pivot away from Etsy a while back, but search engines and over a decade established there made it hard to move away (1 sale in a year elsewhere)

Found a little time to paint again as the graduations and Sr activities wrap up with the kids. Took some advice from @idrawcaralines.bsky.social and based these sylphs in Burgundy Wine first to see if it changes anything.

Well, tomorrow is my last day as a school parent. 8 years of 5:15 am high school mornings. 17 years of volunteering (scouts, theater, mentoring etc). 8 yrs of packed lunches (we knew food was imp long before the autoimmune disorder was identified). So much mom taxi.

Etsy shop has been updated with the latest pattern weight drop. I have enough stock left for one more drop in the fall, but it will probably be my last.

Florida should be fucking ASHAMED and yet, what do my calls net me? Freakin emails touting what a great job they’re doing. I hate that I got on Cory Mills email list since they are the opposite of everything I call or write about. It’s like they’re intentionally taunting us with their cruelty
A man slated for deportation has captured conditions inside the Krome Detention Center in Florida. He says some people have been confined like this for up to 30 days.

At least three men have died at Krome in the past five months.

one of the most important things to learn, if you're out there doing things:

you don't get to talk about it.

you don't get to brag about it, you don't get to tell your friends, you don't get drinks bought for you in the bar off the story.

it's *always* shut the fuck up friday

Rebuilding a hard copy personal library, with banned/history books, and also How-To/Reference Books.

Talked to local library about community "Repair Days." Something new to tackle as my youngest graduates and HS volunteering winds down.

Realistically, how many times a day can I call my reps when it's the same dang people over and over again? So many issues to call about. Maybe the ones with multiple office I just leave different messages at all their numbers.

House Rs just passed the budget resolution, the first step in their process to enact a bill that'd kick millions off Medicaid & cut SNAP down to just $1.60 per person per meal on avg while cutting taxes for the top 0.1% by $278k - all while increasing the debt
