If you want to learn more about these computers and the people behind it that beat Commodore, Apple and Tandy to the market but still lost out—there’s a Kickstarter for a book about Sphere Computers going on right now, they could use a few more supporters.

The start of a big adventure!
This lovable little Spectrum has embarked on a trip around the world where it will visit many retro and vintage tech people along the way.
Started off by @2600.me who handed it to me, it's visited the @retrocollective.co.uk and is now in the safe hands of YARC Todd.

The physicality of computing used to be so satisfying. The clunk of closing the drive lock, the click of the on/off button, the scritching of the dot matrix printer, the zzzip as you pull off the tractor feeds, the snik snik of the floppy door snapping shut. The squeaky zipzip of the hard drive. Sigh

I am ridiculously excited to see this. It's one of those machines I was just sure I would never see in the flesh. 6803 and 8088 CPUs, maybe only 125 built. More info here - randoc.wordpress.com/2011/03/05/m... - thanks to @retrokrazy.bsky.social for bringing it!
Well, THIS is exciting. It's probably France's rarest micro - and it's coming to RetroFest! It's a Matra Alice 8000 and it belongs to @retrokrazy.bsky.social - come and see this (and much, much more) in just over two weeks! (31st May / 1st June, tickets here - www.retrofest.uk/tickets.php)
