Still time to make us some festive #TeletextArt, if you want to be featured on Finnish television. 😎

Deadline is shortly before the final week in November.

Anyone who thinks Bond films need to continue on from each other as a series of logically connected sequels should be kept well away from making Bond films anyway.

Yay it's finally Friday!
Thanks to @thetvroom.com for some constructive criticism about my clocks this week which has greatly improved the accuracy of the different clock hand behaviours, and the dimensions of the clock faces 😀

A little four line bash script now swaps out the config files on my online viewer every morning to give Teefax a "clock of the day", which takes you on an anachronistic journey through time throughout the week. 🤓

Working on the caption generator part of the clock code some more this evening.
I regret to inform you that I will now be adding DOGs to all my channels...

No, YOU sat up all night rewriting your clock code to make it fully parametric so that it can be configured to look like every† BBC clock just by changing the json definition.

†except for the ones it can't

If you're still up, why not watch the sheer wonder of the Ceefax clock ticking over to 2am twice in one night?

I spent two whole days coding this week to make mine look like that, so I *hope* it still does after it changes 😄

Tune in and watch to see if all the code explodes!

Top tip. If your clock looks like this when you put it back tonight, you’ve overshot by nearly thirty years.

A few weeks ago @nmsni.co.uk asked "when can we have clocks on the viewer? 🤣" and it's been nagging away at me since...

Lots of annoying timezone issues and customisation feature creep later... zxnet.co.uk/teletext/vie...

Heavily inspired by the SVG recreations on @aswiseman.bsky.social's site!

Trying and failing again to think of a use for all the teletext databroadcast code I wrote for vbit2.

As @nmsni.co.uk aptly put it earlier "Still trying to find a problem for our solution" 😆

My two best teletext recoveries ever, followed by two shredded tapes.

*turns VCR off and sulks for another two years*

I've dragged the VCR out for the first time in over a year and a half to get back to some teletext recovery.
The first recording of this evening's tape is easily the best results I've ever had 🤯 I've fed it straight into the test channel on my online viewer: zxnet.co.uk/teletext/vie...

Now we're cooking! This is the sort of recovery quality I wanted to see from these recordings 😀

More IDENT from a much longer recording. You can see how the timings shift up the page as the items are broadcast.
(excuse all the mangled content this is still with a very hacked together teletext recovery process)

Feeling at a loose end now that #ChunkyFringe is done and all the TVs are packed way until the next event, so I went picking at an old scab, and figured out how to process a hidden internal channel 4 teletext service called IDENT from a file that's been lurking on my hard drive since 2021 👀

Power failure at ChunkyText towers. Hopefully we'll be back online tomorrow! 😱
October 3, 2025 at 8:49 PM
Well my other posts don't seem to have worked, so I've decided to try superliminal advertising to get people to create some #TeletextArt for Chunky Fringe.

Here's another pre-chunky-fringe teletext treat! A new vhs recovery has allowed us to complete another Turner the Worm story from 1995.
