Today's haul: a mint Speccy that looks like it just came out of Sinclair's factory and a signed copy of Zynaps.

A very happy Sunday.

Thanks Chris @gamesyouloved.bsky.social and Andrew Hewson!!!

Nursing a cold with my dog faithfully playing nurse. She hasn't left my side since the first cough. We really don't deserve dogs.

One of the best new games for the ZX Spectrum, hands down. Fluid, beautiful and full of surprises, it's a must-have in any Speccy game collection.

Spectrum Next #Delphian progress: various changes, and it's starting to feel like a game. Controls and movement are now interrupt driven, so it'll always fly at the same speed no matter what the frame rate. Also added a compass and map coordinates, and added some cockpit graphics, but still WIP.

I’ve started adding some precompiled “.nex” demos in the library. I appreciate that not all will have the time to install z88dk to try these out. Just a cube at the moment. Will add more as I continue exploring the capabilities.

The owner of this Commodore Amiga store in Tokyo, whose door still features GVP and Video Toaster stickers, used to sell Amigas in Japan back when.

I've just walked into him closing the store to head to a filming, he's a video maker now.

What serendipity!

Working on a list of local games that are unpreserved. It is surprising how many titles haven't been found yet, but I think Czechia and Slovakia is still in a very good place compared to the rest of the world. There are over 500 games archived for the ZX Spectrum alone!

Progress on the Spectrum Next 3D engine continues at pace with Dean smashing vertexes and polygons with math lookup tables and a moving camera!
Righto, happy with the scene maths now, so can start porting to Z80 assembler. First, I need a fast 16-bit sin and cos routine that does HL = SIN(A)*DE/256. Rotating the centre points of the objects uses more bits than rotating the vertices around the centre of a model. Much faster already.

Anyhow, that’s how we used to time code in the old days, and goodness, what a performance boost here at very little cost. Got to love the Next. I’ll leave you with the coloured Cobra MkIII. Enjoy.

Can't contain my excitement with how this 3D engine for the Spectrum Next is shaping up... And what we're going to build with it.

Dean is a hell of a developer to pull this off so fast.
Pretty happy with how today went - after spending a few days gnarled under with silly bugs I've managed to get a load done, including importing from Blender using a Python script and refactoring the code so I can render more models in the viewport...

That didn't take long at all. I can now shape the data to fit the Next 3D engine. This is a good shape to test its capabilities.
