Disability accommodations don't hurt or incovenience anyone. They usually make access better for everyone. This is a huge mistake and they'll have to retrofit it later if they don't build it now.
The Department of Energy is trying to get rid of accessibility requirements for new construction via rulemaking. This unprecedented move, which seems to be illegal, could be the blueprint for other federal agencies to follow. New from me at @motherjones.com. www.motherjones.com/politics/202...

SCOOP --> Trump's State Department quietly terminated a contract that was in the process of transferring evidence of Russian abductions of Ukrainian kids to European law enforcement, two sources familiar with the situation tell me.

Trump Admin Nixed Contract Helping Kidnapped Ukrainian Kids: Sources
The fate of abducted Ukrainian children is a white-hot issue for peace negotiations—and it looks like the State Department may have just undercut the cause.

The American Federation of Government Employees, which represents 800,000+ federal and D.C. workers (i.e. people directly impacted by a government shutdown), is urging senators to vote no on the House GOP's CR.

In other words, AFGE is saying a government shutdown is less bad than this GOP bill.

KEEP CALLING. PEEL OFF ALL DEM SENATORS YOU CAN.

☎️: (202) 224-3121

Tell them to vote NO on Cloture and NO on CR. Vote is pushed to after 1:15ish for now. Situation is fluid.

The only public YES votes are Schumer and Fetterman. They need 7-8 total. KEEP CALLING.

Call retiring Senators too!

Just a friendly reminder that while voters won't have another chance to remove Schumer until 2028, the Dem senators can remove him at any time if they just get together. He may be able to stay in the senate, but he doesn't have to remain leader. It's time for something new.

As a mom who has fought to make sure kids with special needs, like mine, get the education they deserve, I know how Trump’s decision to ditch the Dept. of Ed. will harm families advocating at the state level.

It’s effed-up.

My two cents: we don’t abandon the Democratic Party. We remake it. It’s a good party. It just has bad leadership.

The institutional Democratic Party is guided by an almost pathological level of conflict avoidance in almost every direction. “What can we do to make the least number of people mad?” is just a bankrupt way to operate.
