Straight edge. Nerd. Colossal dome. General failure.
Something I was grateful to be able to do over the weekend: my first ride of 2026.

While other friends of mine were playing in snow, we didn't get a single flake so despite the bitter cold it is was great to be out on two wheels.

Thanks to Jim for snapping the photo. The biker community rules.

Tanahashi vs Okada was simply amazing. A true masterclass of using the medium of pro-wrestling to tell stories in-ring. A wonderful send-off for Tanahashi - one of the most important wrestlers of the 21st century. Four days into 2026 and we have a Match of the Year contender. #njwk20

I'm often preoccupied with 2007. Probably my last really good year...

...now if you'll excuse me I'm going to sit in the corner of a dark room. For unrelated reasons. Ahem.
If the 2004 song "1985" were written today, it would be about being preoccupied with the year 2007

My absolute favourite Jim Carrey film by quite some distance.

Plus, Kate Winslet can do no wrong in my eyes.

This a supremely clever, sad, romantic, hopeful film. Not many can juggle all those qualities but this one does so in abundance.
One of the great films of all time:

Will never disagree with this take. It also features the best on-screen versions of just about every character.
rewatching batman the animated series and it’s the best batman series - better than the nolan movie tbh

the animation, the writing, the voice acting, everything is just peak

My 2025 Wrestler of the Year - "Timeless" Toni Storm

Regardless of gender: the best character in any company, masterfully performed. Queer, sex-positive and empowered. Genuinely funny. Sublime promos. Excellent in-ring work. Responsible for some of the year's best moments.

My top 5 movies of 2025:

1. Sinners
2. Nosferatu
3. Superman
4. 28 Years Later
5. Thunderbolts*

There are so many others I really wanted to get around to but didn't get the chance - Weapons and Frankenstein particularly - but horror is already dominating my list as it is.

Same.

The Muppets - and this film in particular - are one of the very few things in this world which bypass my cynical pessimism and plug straight into the earnest part of my brain.
cannot overstate the immediate overwhelming joy and warmth that fills my heart the moment the overture kicks in over the opening credits 🥰

The season 20 finale of Taskmaster capped off an excellent series. Really surprised to see a 3-way tie in points at the end but that just added to the fun.

Have to admit I have developed a bit of a crush on Ania Magliano over the course the season. She makes a very fetching pirate.

Wrestling is the best. Sometimes it's a technical or athletic showcase and sometimes it's this total lunacy. Brilliant.

I see no flaws in this system whatsoever. It should be implemented immediately.
I’ve decided that the work week should be broken down as follows:

Monday is a work day
Tuesday is a off day
Wednesday is a off day
Thursday is a work day
Friday is a off day
Saturday is a off day
Sunday is a off day

This gives a weekend in the middle and 3-day weekend, every week. This is optimal.

Saw @elponypisador.bsky.social in Selby earlier this week. Haven't seen them play live since they opened for @thelongestjohns.bsky.social in 2022.

They were utterly superb. Splendid musicianship, delightfully daft in places and some lovely harmonies. Bought 2 more of their albums that night.

I really need to find that damn monkey paw which keeps technically giving me something I want/wanted but does so in a way that does me absolutely no good whatsoever. How many fingers does this thing have?

All of the problems we are currently facing can be traced back to unfettered capitalism.

Ironically, its most vocal supporters are the ones who want to "go back" to when things were better. Not knowing or not caring this means socialism.
Capitalism isn't failing, having the rich own everything and everyone else own nothing and rent forever, is the plan.

The 22nd Amendment is inescapably clear:

"No person shall be elected to the office of the President more than twice".

Says nothing about them being consecutive or any other wiggle room. Trump running for a third time CANNOT (legally) happen. It even being floated as a possibility is terrifying.
"Forgive me, but how in the world is this not on the front page of every American newspaper, leading every cable news show, and right smack dab in the middle of every legacy media homepage? Why are we, at Zeteo, the only folks leading with this insane story?"

Peter Rothpletz on Donald Trump's brazen push to secure a 3rd (forever?) term, the White House's transformation into a Saddam Hussein-style palace, and the bombshell NBA gambling indictments.

Damn, I've missed The Traitors. A genuinely impressive cast for a celebrity version of a show like this, too.

Don't often see party conference speeches I would say are worth watching, but @zackpolanski.bsky.social gave his first as Green Party's leader and it was terrific.

How refreshing it is to hear that a country is at its best when it acts with kindness.

Am a big fan of Brian K Vaughan's writing so was always going to pick up his latest project: SPECTATORS with art by Niko Henrichon.

Wow. Not remotely safe for work or kids, this futuristic fantasy explores questions of sexuality and violence in a fascinating way with beautiful art throughout.

There's no way @mehdirhasan.bsky.social will remember me from my very brief internship at New Statesman but clips like this make me proud to make the (admittedly rather flimsy but still technically accurate) claim that I once worked with him.

He's dropping some serious facts here. Brilliant.
Next time someone on the right claims all the political violence in this country is coming from the left, not the right, do please show them this.

You're welcome

I'm not celebrating a man's death. But don't ask me to mourn for someone who spent their career demonizing and dehumanizing vulnerable people and communities. It's possible to say murder is wrong while also admitting the victim in this case was monumentally shitty human being.

Was already jealous of anyone who has made it to Glasgow for Dynamite, but all the photos (like this one) I'm seeing of the crowd has made it so much more intense!

Damn, I hope everyone there has an absolute blast and makes a load of noise.

Reason #247 why I'm glad AEW exists.
I like how the AEW on TV account saw people being all heavy about the events of the weekend...and they said "Gather around...it's time for arts and crafts. Please make silly music videos with us." 🤼
