Obviously "favourite" is very different from "best". These are the favourites off the top of my head.

Not really a fan of Tim Burton... but BIG FISH is a superb movie. For my money: it's his best.

Final point: wrestling is freakin' awesome.

I've really fallen off watching New Japan this year, which kinda makes me a little sad. Usually there's a bunch of G1 matches in my list but none this year. Not to say the tournament didn't have worthy matches - I just didn't see them. Need to find more time for NJPW again.

More specifically: Toni Storm appears twice. No lie: my wrestler of the year, regardless of gender. Sublime character work, some of the best mic work I've ever seen, funny, yet can be taken seriously, she's had some stellar matches and created some of the best "moments" of the year.

Two women's matches in my top 5, which I believe is a first, but women's wrestling has been on another level this year. Regardless of company it feels like women's divisions everywhere are hitting their stride.

A lot of matches from AEW All In Texas. My favourite event of the year. As sad as I was to not be able to attend like I did the two in London, it was still brilliant.

I keep a "Top Matches" document each year and add ones to it in a vague order every time I see a really good one. Then I try to finalise the order of the top 5 or 10. Some things I've noticed about my list this year...

And in case anyone wants to point out that Nosferatu was released in 2024: not in the UK. It arrived January 1st of this year so, for me, it counts.
