This editorial interference will result in significantly more interest in the original 60 Minutes story.
Here’s a gift link to this stunner Washpost story, quoting the 60 Minutes correspondent on the CECOT story, who accuses Bari Weiss of spiking the piece all because the Trump Administration wouldn’t comment.

“Government silence is a statement, not a VETO.”

‘60 Minutes’ correspondent says CBS’s Bari Weiss abruptly pulled segment on Trump deportations
CBS News pulled a ‘60 Minutes’ segment about a prison in El Salvador one day before it was set to air because the Trump administration declined to participate.

The CBS reporter who led the story calls pulling it a "political" decision.
"The decision was made after Bari Weiss, the new editor in chief of CBS News, requested numerous changes to the segment."

President Trump says that checks for $1,776 each are going out to nearly 1.5 million servicemembers. I have questions.

+ When did Congress approve such a plan?
+ Where is the money coming from?
+ How is it non-taxable? Did Congress vote to do that?
I'm sure there must be specific bill text.

Exactly right: the more relevant precedents aren't the last two Trump impeachments. They're Johnson, which came within one vote of conviction and basically neutered him, and Nixon, which effectively succeeded.

In part b/c Johnson and Nixon were both lame ducks, as Trump wasn't before but now is.

Democrats are divided about pursuing a third Trump impeachment.
But Trump’s second term actions — abuses of federal power amidst a racial backlash — fits well with previous historical patterns. 🧵

Two leading health economists laid out the case: standard economic theory about consumption just does not apply well in health. Every other country has figured this out, but its such a point of dogma now in the US to insist that health is just another product.

This bit about oh no we have need to do "serious" extensive investigations first is belied by the fact that the last impeachment they all voted for did none of that. Sometimes the matter is clear-cut and doesn't need dithering months and months of inquiry first, the facts are simple and known.
Significant statement from Jeffries and House Democratic leaders saying they will vote “present” on the motion to table Al Green’s resolution to impeach President Trump. They say they’re “laser-focused on fighting to lower the high cost of living” plus on health care and corruption.
