Thessa & Persephone the Rescue Sisters, back in 2020 when they were just beginning to trust humans again. They would have been approximately 4-6 months old here, I think. Thessa is the calico, Persephone the sable. At the time they did everything together.

I admit, I don't know why I found this announcement by a fellow teacher so funny, but its arrival in my inbox caused me to laugh, and still has me giggling when I see it. I guess it does sort of show the exasperation we experience when trying to move yr12 out of their yr11 mindset? Or something?

Finally watched K-pop Demon Hunters. No idea why people didn't tell me that it's just Charlies Angels, animated. The Bosby character is sodding adorable, the ending is utterly disappointing (I was hoping for something interesting to happen) and the sound design is a bit sloppy, but not bad all up.

Remarkable what will bring down all the infrastructure so simply.

I loved Roadtown when I read it as a teenager, and it's on Project Gutenburg, so I would like to promote to everyone an old favourite piece of speculative engineering science fiction that has gained new magic due to recent events:

It's not that students can't read. Plenty of my students can read (out loud at the very least) but they see it as a chore, leading to conversations like this. And they need to practice their reading skills. The literacy is the point of the lesson, kiddo, not the yummy food you are cooking....
"miss, what do I do next?"
"Check the recipe."
"but what do I do to the food next?"
"The recipe will tell you that."
"But what do I do?"
"Read the recipe."

The students in question were 14-16 years old, mid high school, and they could read. Post-covid teaching is weird though.

Listened to Articles of Interest back when it was on 99% Invisible. Brilliant show.

Occasionally the narrator/author can't pronounce words though. This episode, it's a word I couldn't even identify from what she said. Turns out, mauve!

"Moth"?!? Really? lol.

I cannot emphasise enough the inadvisability of calling your kid "Anshita" if they are going to attend an Australian school. It is a beautiful name with a beautiful meaning, but perhaps consider it as a middle name instead? Because I am serious when I say that children are mean. Really mean.

Determined not to call it Brooklyn? Always thought they missed an opportunity not calling it the Brooklyn Bridge, but it seems a stretch calling the place Cowan!

Plausibly believable, but ultimately very wrong is pretty much everything on the LLM A.I. answer sheet.

Like a stopped clock, it occasionally gets common knowledge questions right, but also like a stopped clock, you have to have another source to check if this is the moment when it is right.

A sunbath, in which Persephone appears to have melted into nothing but tail and legs and an enormous pink tongue. I am glad cats self assemble again after they melt into random parts.

This. Or you know, Trek and Babylon space opera outfits in general. Jackets alone are fascinating, and footwear, leaving out jewellery which is a treasure trove (if you would forgive the expression) of imagination.
i would pay good money for the menswear guy to do a breakdown of how he knows Garak isn't a real tailor based on his fits

A pleasant sunbath in the cool green grass.

I need to cut my lawn....

Thessa is over the itchyness of shedding into a summer coat at this point, but still needs a lot of licks to keep herself as blindingly white as possible.

What is cool about the yanks doing this? The frogs seem to have worked out they're being boiled, and are working on doing something about it. They want a future!

I do wonder how the manufacturer is taking this sudden sale boom...
