It occurs to me, and I'm sure I'm not the only one, that what is happening with the ultra rich oppressing and exploiting everyone else is a mirror of what humans have done to the earth.

For over 50 years, this bedrock environmental law has significantly decreased water pollution, helped preserve our waterways, and protected public health. With these long-standing protections under attack, we won’t give up on fighting for our basic right to safe, clean water. 🧵👇

New 'state of climate action' report gives you a much better picture than daily headlines about contextless solar panel or EV sales

- Most things are going in the right direction

- Most things are badly off track to the pace of change required

Today I scored a 4.7/5 on my first test in the veterinary medicine program so I bought a cinnamon roll to celebrate. The light and autumn leaves on my walk home were breathtaking. Then I saw a Great Spotted Woodpecker.

10/10. Would do again.

This one hurts. 💔

Jane Goodall was the first public figure I looked up to as a child. I knew I wanted to work with animals after seeing her unique bond with chimpanzees from Nat Geo’s “Really Wild Animals” series.

On my first day of vet school today she passed away.

We picked up 4 60L bags of litter + 2 art pieces left lying face-down in a field for a while.

Pro tip: littering negates any uplifting artistic message you’re trying to get across. Don’t trash our planet for your art.

Only caring people will save us.

Thanks again to @municipole.bsky.social

We picked up FIFTEEN 15L bags worth of litter!
We were mistaken for city workers at one point despite not wearing a uniform. You don’t have to belong to an organisation to make a difference. Sometimes a pair of gloves, some biodegradable bags, and some time are all you need. @municipole.bsky.social

"We were trying to extend the life of coal and we may be shortening it." The quotes here - and the story - are genuinely spectacular.
Montana Republicans are considering repealing a 2020 law they supported that promotes carbon capture and storage for #coal plants, saying it “does nothing but increases the rates” & boosts “alternatives such as nuclear or wind and #solar

Wyoming stepped in to ‘save coal’ in 2020. Now, lawmakers aren’t so sure
This summer, Wyoming lawmakers are taking a hard look at coal – the bread and butter of the state’s economy. They’re split on whether it needs saving, as some think it’ll win out on the free market wi...

What a pleasure it was to participate in Streets for Kids day. There was a sense of pride seeing these kids exercise their independence without the looming threat of cars. It was such an enjoyable ride- we even made some friends afterwards!

I’ve spent the last 10+ years trying to get on the Pedestrian Committee (ACH10) by reviewing papers and helping organize workshops. Guess I don’t have to worry about it now
TRB is dissolving all committees. This wasn't unexpected, but they're couching it in a technocratic need to "get back to basics" and ease administrative burden when in fact it's a great big shit sandwich that we're all expected to eat and not make a fuss about.
