2 bits of data from new Economist/YouGov poll.....

13% support for cutting research funding to universities. 24% among Republicans. Polling on this continues to be catastrophic for the Rs, suggests Dems should be learning far harder into standing up for science and our universities. 1/

If you have any following at all and shared the story about Harvard being willing to pay $500M to Trump, please read the below and share it and repost it over and over, because not doing so is being complicit in spreading fascist propaganda.
Important details from this story:

1) Yet another news-break by student journalists (this time @theharvardcrimson.bsky.social) www.thecrimson.com/article/2025...

2) Harvard saying "see you in court," not "let's make a deal."

3) Per Garber, WH/MAGA leaked news of a "deal." NYT then ran with it.

The stripping away $1.1 billion in already-approved federal public media funding is devastating for KALW, with a loss of over $400,000 in our annual budget.

If KALW has ever informed you, moved you, or helped you feel connected to the Bay Area—this is your moment to act.

Losing my mind listening to @npr.org describe their own defunding as "a win for the President's cost-cutting measures" this morning. No it fucking isn't!

It's a win for wasteful urban Republican elites who want to fuck over their constituents. #cpb #npr
Anyway I’m really fucking sad about this. It was like watching a 14-year slow motion train crash. The Corporation for Public Broadcasting was everything that was right about government and its demise is everything that’s wrong with contemporary beltway politics. We all deserve better.

Anyways, give this takedown of Corporate Sludge by @alexis-madrigal.bsky.social a listen! The local callers are the best part.

To be fair, announcing you intend to fuck up an emu doesn’t have the same click bait value.
Colossal are likely trying to ‘de-extinct’ the moa by tweaking an emu genome. There’s 62 million years of evolution between an emu and a moa.

For context, there’s only 42 MY between humans and howler monkeys. You simply can’t make a human with a GM howler monkey

Colossal's plans to "de-extinct" the giant moa are still impossible
After a controversial project claiming to have resurrected the dire wolf, Colossal Biosciences has now announced plans to bring back nine species of the extinct moa bird

A wonderful Saiga thread (!!)
It's a good thing I'm not in charge of naming animals, because I would have called this thing a SNOZZALOPE.

Instead, they named it the Saiga, or Saiga antelope (Saiga tatarica). Let's talk about them, starting with the giant snozz...
