Block fascists. There's no reasoning or arguing with them, you might as well debate with spoiled leftovers. Don't let them bait you. Block fast, block often, block fascists. Let their accounts mummify.

I was watching a video about ancient celtic languages and they had a clip of this video of Jack Thackray singing a song about the Yan tan tethera which made me think very strongly of The Wee Free Men by Terry Pratchett for obvious reasons.

I can't recommend this enough. I listened to this interview with Siskel & Ebert on NPR's Fresh Air back in 1996 and have remembered it ever since.
A Conversation with Siskel and Ebert.

Today is, in one of those weird coincidences where the stars align for no good reason but that it seems appropriate, the birthday of both H.G. Wells and Stephen King!

In Stephen King's The Dead Zone a insanely dangerous politician is stopped by an assassination attempt causing him to hold a child in front of him and the photo of that act making him a pariah. This now seems wildly and implausibly optimistic.

Remembering MN house speaker Melissa Hortman, her husband Mark and their beloved dog Gilbert. Murdered in June at their home by a rightwing Trump-voting evangelist, who also shot another MN lawmaker and his wife at THEIR home, 9 and 8 times, respectively (miraculously, they survived).

But back to the OP's point, this all ties into the incestuous circle-of-references-as-plot-character-everything trend in new IP adaptations.

It's a strange, copyrighted and trademarked Commedia dell'arte complete with stock characters that we also have to pretend is fresh and must not be spoiled.

The warning about "decivilization" didn't come after any one of a number of school shootings. It didn't come after January 6. It was after a health insurance company CEO's shooting wasn't received with national mourning:

The brazen murder of a CEO in Midtown Manhattan—and the cheering reaction to his execution—amounts to a blinking-and-blaring warning signal for a society that has become already too inured to bloodshe...

The main problem with drinking unpasteurised, raw milk, is not that you may become seriously ill or may even kill you

It introduces a highly adaptable influenza virus, H5N1, into the human population

Selecting for mutations/reassortments facilitating human to human transmission

50% mortality

Drinking raw, unpasteurised, milk is a bad idea.

It has no nutritional benefits, but it will expose you to a wide range of pathogens like tuberculosis and Salmonella

Now also bird flu. The mortality rate of bird flu is around 50%
