My book, Walking the Bypass: Notes on Place From the Side of the Road, has been reviewed in the October issue of Harper's.

I was told this was going to happen, but I'm still surprised to see it. Well, shocked. And, of course, grateful that my book has received this thoughtful response.

Thanks to everyone who came out last night to Ben McNally Books for the Toronto launch of Walking the Bypass, to Rupert and the staff at the store, to Rachel Stapleton for hosting, and to Shawn Micallef for the great conversation!

If you're in southwestern Ontario, or if you've just always been curious about that other Paris, come and see three great writers (or two great writers and me) in conversation with James Cairns, the author of the critically acclaimed In Crisis, On Crisis. There will be snacks--books, too!

The president of the United States thinks asylum-seekers come from mental asylums.

He says it in almost every interview where the topic of migration comes up.

How is this not 25th Amendment territory? How is he not an embarrassment to this entire country?

When the only possible deal is a shitty one, maybe it’s better to maintain dignity and walk away. I understand why Carney apologized for the Reagan ad, according to today’s Guardian, but we can’t appease the fascists south of the lines, and maybe we need to stop trying.

But it's okay, because he's not seeking a third term.
