It is not necessary to rewrite the history of a murdered person. It can be both true that political violence is bad and no one should be murdered for the beliefs -and- not portray the victim as someone who operated in good faith and just wanted to talk things out.

Man, I wish this guy would step down - voluntarily. He is a good man, who served long and well. But he blew it and now his words have no teeth, they won't get them back, and while there are a good many Democratic elected officials that we all love hearing from, he'll never be one of those again.

if I were writing stories about the gov "firing thousands of probationary workers" I would probably rewrite as "firing thousands of new hires -- who are often on a status called "probation" --" because I think the general understanding of "probation" is "in trouble for something they did"
